Hi all. I tested this out. It works so very good and easy to use. On my Windows XP I went to www.jammingsignal.com/files/I download the BBS Server 1.2.zip I hooked up a RS232 cord. On Advanced setting I just did 2400,N,8,1 and 3. Radio Shack Cable. I am using Turbo 232 and the 2400 baud patch. Then I typed atdt 66.135.38.238:5190 and seen the connect. Pressed F1 and I was in. The hardest part was getting the RS232 cable right. I all ready have a cable coming off my PC that ends in 9 pin. I used a 10 foot cable to hook to that cable. But I had to put like 3 gender changers on it because male to female things. So that would = just one Gender Changer. Just wanted to let people know that "Telnet BBS Server v1.2" works and is real easy to set up just run the BBS Server.exe program and set some easy settings. It will show Online time and Idle time. That's neet. So like fack LED modem lights too for serial Activity.

I tested this with just a RS-232 on my 128 at 1200 baud. But when I typed atdt ip:port it did not connect. It would cut off some of the port number. I could see it in the log file.
I then put the name "q-link" and the IP and port number in the phone book.
Then I did "atdt q-link" but it cut some of that off too. Then I named it just "q" in the phone book and I could use "atdt q" it connected.
I guess this my be a error with Telnet BBS Server v1.2

I noticed this too, but I'm not sure what the issue is. I put in a phonebook entry simply "555" to point to ql.quantum-link.org to work around it.
Why would it work at 2400 but not at 1200? That's strange. Do you get any error messages if you enable Detailed RS232 Diagnostics?

I am not sure. I just spent about 1/2 hour getting a RS232 cable with Turbo232 again but this time I gave up on it. I could not get it to work. If I had one gender changer that is male then female on each end I think I could get it to work. But out of 7 gender changers I have they are both the same on both ends. male to male and female to female
I did have it hooked up to my 128 with a Jameco RS232 and a RS232 cord that just plugged right in no gender changer on it. That way worked at 1200 baud.
It's to bad I did not wight down the connectors I used to hook up the Turbo232. But it looks like it just needs one gender changer on it. But with what I have it don't look like I can hook it up like that.

I been trying for hours to get connected again to Q-Link with my Turbo232 and Telnet BBS Server v1.2. I just can't do it again! I have all sorts of RS232 cables out and gender changers any hook up I do I can't get it to work again!
It will all ways work at 1200 baud with just a Jameco RS232 and a standard 25 pin male to 9 pin female right in the back of the PC com port 1.
I can hook it up just like this with Turbo232 and set the baud at 2400 using a Gender Changer or not. I can't get it to work.
If any one else gets it to work with the Turbo232 post it back here if you had to use a Gender Changer or not and what cable in Telnet BBS Server you had it set on out of the 5.
I did have it working and that is how I got on the very 1st time with it. I remember I had to use 3 like gender changer and I think some 9 pin to 25 pin adaptors on the cable. It's to bad I did not wight it down how I hooked it up.

I been testing this out for a long time! I just got it working again with Turbo232!
I have a RS232 card that has on each end a 25 pin and 9 pin male adapters.
I used it to connect with the user port 1200 baud.
I used the same cable but I have to put 3 gender changers on it. It should just be one then. But to get the right connections on each end this is how I have to do it.
But here is the thing. I can only get it to work if I use my 3 wire gender changer! I just have the ground and send receive hooked up and on each end send is hooked up to receive, and receive to send. That's it besides the ground.
If I have the 25 pin end of the RS232 cable hooked up like this my commodore will not get any text back! I had to hook up a 9 pin to 25 pin adapter then I got text back after I did a "ati" for testing. With out the text I could see on Telnet BBS Server it was sending the text but I would not get it on the commodore side. So at the end of my RS232 cord it have it hooked up like this.
From my Turbo232 9 pin to 25 pin. My 3 wire Gender Changer. A 25 pin Gender Changer. A 25 pin Gender Changer. A 25 pin to 9 pin. To my RS232 WinXP com port 1.
Yes that's two 25 pin Gender Changers in a row! Just to convert male to female.
It does work when I do a "atdt q-link" at 2400 boud. But that don't work at 1200 boud using the user port! I have to set it up to do "atdt q" Here is text from it.

See the "ATDT Q-L"? That should of been "ATDT Q-LINK" this is the 1200 baud user port one.
Here is the 2400 baud Turbo232 one.

I guess this is just some error with Telnet BBS Server V1.2
