Not sure I know what I'm doing, but I have Ivory BBS on my SX-64, a single 1541 drive, and TelnetBBS server 1.3 on my PC. How do I get other Commodore users to connect? I used hyperterminal on my PC and typed ATDT and the IP address in the window on BBS server. It apparently connected, and the screen on the Commodore went blank! I think an echo setting needs to be toggled on BBS server. There was info comming on hyperterminal, not petscii of course!! Now, how would I be able to make the IP "address" something like typing "ATDT COMMODORERELOADED.com", how is this possible? That sounds like a good name for my BBS... I figured I would use the simplest BBS software so I could learn how it all operates!

You'll need to register a domain name and set up DNS: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_name_systemBefore getting too fancy with BBS Server and so on, make sure you can use HyperTerminal *on its own* to connect directly to your BBS, though the COM port. Get that working before introducing BBS Server into the mix.

Thank you. I see that dydns.com offers a free dynamic dns. I used Hyperterminal to connect via TCP/IP, is that correct? My SX64 uses a com port for its RS232. Should I try another com port, or is TCP/IP the correct way?

You should use a COM Port. Make sure BBS Server is *not* running, and then tell HyperTerminal to connect on the same COM port that BBS Server was using.

dyndns is the best way I know of.. also you might want to look for a program called ZOOMBOT. set that up in junction with dyndns. that will keep your external ip aligned with your internal ip. thqt is what i am using on my amiga bbs
