I've noticed that when I enter "local mode" on AA BBS, BBS Server will display a status of "OFF HOOK" in the Telnet Activity box. Logs indicate that an ATH1 command is being sent by the BBS when this happens. However, when exiting this "local mode", the BBS sends "ATM0V0X1S0=1", but BBS Server does not return to a "WAITING" status, but instead remains "OFF HOOK". Because of this, incoming connections are refused, and the only way I've found to fix it is by manually exiting and restarting BBS Server. Also, this same thing appears to be happening at midnight when the BBS runs a drive validation routine.
So my question is, is there any way to prevent BBS Server from going to an "OFF HOOK" status by somehow getting it to ignore ATH1?

Trust me, you want the BBS to go off hook when you're doing local stuff (but you can do this manually on the BBS Server GUI window), so that people can't call in and see what you're doing ;-)
I don't have the program in front of me, but you might be able to have it ignore the H commands. Or you could disable Hayes commands altogether.
Alternately, can you change the second string to "ATH0"? That will put you back on-line.

And I have no problem manually setting this in the BBS Server GUI window. I don't have the program in front of me, but you might be able to have it ignore the H commands. Or you could disable Hayes commands altogether. I'd like to have it ignore the H commands, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to do this. I could try disabling the Hayes commands altogether, but this may cause more problems, since I have AA BBS set for a Hayes modem. I'll give it a try though. Alternately, can you change the second string to "ATH0"? That will put you back on-line. Unfortunately, the only thing I can do is change the modem type. What AA BBS does at that point is pre-programmed. Perhaps if I had the source code for AA BBS, I might be able to change this, but I'm still waiting to receive the source code from the program's author. -Andrew

Eh, it wasn't so much people looking at what you're doing online; Image BBS has the option for true local mode where no text is sent to the modem; that way the sysop can jump in and do sysop-ly things while a user is online, like add credits from the command line, etc. There is a way through something called a "lightbar" to change users' access levels, and lots of stuff like that. Pretty sophisticated; inherited from CNet.
