I would like to formally announce the "resurrection" of the C64/128 Bulletin Board List. This list had been released monthly years ago, but it has not been updated since October 2003. I've decided to take it upon myself to bring this list back to life. I'm keeping the same basic format as the old list, but I'm including all known dial-up AND Telnet boards (the old list was for dial-up only). Anyway... I hope some of you will find this useful... :-) The ASCII text version of the list can be found here: hometown.aol.com/cottonwoodbbs/cbm-bbs-list.txt The PETSCII text version of the list can be found here: hometown.aol.com/cottonwoodbbs/cbm-bbs-list.seqCredit goes to Golan Klinger for compiling the TelBBS List, from which I aquired the BBS names and Telnet addresses used in this list. Thanks also to all the SysOps who provided additional information used in this list. -Andrew

Technically Golan's "fork" of the list (if you want to call it that) was started quite a while ago, I forget how many years exactly. Dr. Video started it, then I inherited it after he left the scene. I lost home Internet access and it sorta found its way here, duplicated on Jeff's page. So a whole lot of folks have had a hand in it.
A clarification:
J.Rotten's board is in Boones Mill, VA. I don't know whether he wants his real name given out.

I don't know whether he wants his real name given out. I added that bit about Golan when he raised a stink about the list when I first posted it on the comp.sys.cbm newsgroup. I did know that a few different people maintained the TelBBS list before him. The list that I took over was posted monthly by "Snakeman", but he stopped posting it years ago. It was a list of dial-up C64/128 BBS's... Interestingly, it was about the same time that he stopped posting his monthly list that the few remaining dial-up BBS's "fizzled out". I wonder if it had anything to do with that. Anyway... I thought it'd be nice to have another list in that same format, with more detailed information on each BBS, so I decided to revive it, and include ALL C64/128 BBS's, whether dial-up or Telnet-accessable. I'll probably remove the "thanks to Golan" paragraph in the next edition of the list, which I'll wait until July to release unless there are a bunch of new additions between now and then. I figure I've given him sufficient thanks. ;D Thanks for the info on J.Rotten's BBS... I've contacted the SysOp of each BBS personally and have asked for any info that they want included on the list... So if they don't give me info for a specific block, then I just put "Unknown". If any SysOp sees any errors on the list, or wants something added, all they have to do is let me know. -Andrew

Maybe this list should be part of a wiki so that it can be maintained collaboratively? Even the Sysops themselves could update their listings that way.

I'm attempting to contact people who maintain BBS lists for other vintage computers... I have an idea to create a combined BBS list for all vintage computers. Setting up a wiki-style list would be fantastic... But I wouldn't know where to even begin to do this.

Just got to www.paytonbyrd.com/wiki and create an account.
