I guess I'm still a newbie at telBBS'ing. I just started calling a few BBSs last week with CGTerm. I was thinking of trying to hook my 64c or A500 up to my PC and get online.
Question arises, though.. Is there any type of multi-user system available to call? Or is it all just regular old BBSs? I know there is the quantum link thing. Besides that, what is there? it'd be great to be able to have some live-chat with other users via the C64.
Next thing is.. Despite my previous linux experience, I currently have no systems in my house running Linux. Is there software available for Windows that will do what I need?

David, Leif Bloomquist has written a nice Windows-based program called "BBS Server". You can find it at his website, here: home.ica.net/~leifb/bbs/-Andrew

Is there any type of multi-user system available to call? Take another look at the BBS list. Lost Caverns is a multi-node BBS. You could also connect to Temporal Vortex on one of the 'BBS chat nights'. (Note to Jeff: Time to start planning the next one!) You're kidding, right? That's practically all we talk about on this board. You can use tcpser (via Cygwin) or tcpserj or if you want to keep things really simple, use Telnet BBS Server. Have a look here if you need instructions on how to set things up.

Yes, we are long overdue for another multuuser chat night on Temporal Vortex -- Soon to be announced. Take a look at telbbs.petscii.com -- It's back up and will help with some of those newbie questions. [ADDED] Oops redundant... BTW, what's it going to take to add a serial port/CGterm to the Hummer. I've been watching you guys for the last year and are almost ready to take the plunge. (I've got two boards waiting for me to get off my busy rear and start modification. Jeff

Well.. as you may have noticed, I may spend a lot of time on the DTV Hacking section, but not here.. I'm pretty new to this, although intrigued. Seems like the last time I visited this idea, people were only using Linux to do it.. at least, that is how I remember it. But that was probably 2 years ago.
Find me the source code to CCGMS (or something similar) and I'll get started right away. I just don't feel like writing a whole new terminal program from scratch.
What type of hardware is it run on? I've never seen a multi-node Commodore BBS before. Come to think of it, I've never seen a multi-node Amiga BBS either.
Edit - I can't download BBS Server.. Every link I have found has been dead.

Sorry about that. The files are hosted on my Linux box at home, which appears to be down after a province-wide power spike this morning! Unfortunately I didn't even notice until I got to work. So, try again tomorrow.

So, try again tomorrow. I was wondering why I couldn't access my machine at home today... Guess my bbs is down too.

Oh, I see. I was confused because you didn't put a space in "PALformat" so I thought it was a product. I also thought it had something to do with this thread (or this message board or these forums for that matter.) Video formats isn't what we discuss here but you might find someone to help you. Maybe you should start a new thread in the "General Board" and be more specific as to what your problem is.
