In case you try to verify the boards before updating your list you'll find mine is offline. It crashed Wednesday evening and I forgot to restart it when I got the office on Thursday and just now remembered...ooops! It'll be back up Monday. Just FYI.

No problem. Your board will be on the list. By the time most people see it your board will be back up and all will be well.

Golan,
Yes, Cottonwood BBS will remain a dial-up BBS until I get everything set up to make it a Telnet BBS. Until that time, however, it's still accessable by calling (951)242-3593.

As for your BBS, even though it isn't, or wasn't, a telnet BBS I was planning on including it on the list because it's a C= BBS and may be of interest. Golan, Instead of calling this the "Commodore 8bit TelBBS List", could it be called the "Commodore 8bit BBS List"? Since ALL Commodore 8-bit BBS's are TelBBS's, except for mine, it seems like it wouldn't make that much of a difference to change the name of the list. And then I'd feel more like my BBS belonged on the list, like it was "part of the group", rather than just being "that dial-up BBS that's on the TelBBS list". Does that make sense? -Andrew

I understand what you're saying and I don't want my response to seem confrontational but this is a list of telnet boards. It was created to support and promote telnet boards just as this forum was created so that sysops and users of telnet boards could discuss issues relating to telnet BBSing. It isn't that we're anti-dialup or anything, that just wasn't the raison d'etre for the list or this forum.
Now, with all that being said, I'm willing to consider making this the "Commodore 8bit BBS List" with sections for both telnet and dialup boards but I can't help but wonder what the point would be since yours is, as you point out, the only dialup C= board around and you are converting it to a telnet board anyway. Wouldn't it just be simpler to add your board to the list when you get BBS Server or tcpser set up?

Golan, As I stated in my reply to you here: jledger.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=1168457806... I haven't *really* made up my mind, it appears. At this very moment, I'm toying around with changing my BBS software to Color 64 v7.37. This would allow me to use my Aprotek MiniModem C24, since it is supported, and hopefully clear up the "connection issues" that some callers are having. Your statement about my BBS being unique *because* it's dial-up got me thinking further on the subject, and now I'm not so sure I want to make it a Telnet board. Well... I'll get this sorted out sooner or later... hehehehehe. Anyway, when anything definate gets changed or modified on my BBS, I post it on the BBS forum that I moderate here: www.commodore.ca/forum/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=bc33e70871e01efb7e0c0e27a1a1c12fSo anyway... at least for now... I *am* going to stick with dial-up. And I totally understand about the TelBBS list having been created for TelBBS's, so I don't want you to go changing it on account of me. But being added to the bottom of the list or something would be greatly appreciated. :-) Oh... And if I can ever figure out how to do BOTH dial-up and Telnet from my C=, I am still interested in doing that. ;-) -Andrew

Didn't you turn Gambit down when he offered you Color 64? I also suggested using it during a #c64friends chat. Anyway, when you get things sorted out I'll add you to the list. That would be simplest and frankly, I can't think about this anymore.

That would be simplest and frankly, I can't think about this anymore. I turned down Gambit when he offered me Color 64 because I already had Color 64. And at the time, I wasn't interested in switching because I was holding out in hope that I'd get an updated version of AA BBS software. I still may receive that software, and may switch back if I feel it's worthwile enough, but for the moment, I've grown weary of waiting, and I'm frustrated that I'm experiencing hardware problems that are software related. Don't worry... I'll let you know when everything is "sorted out". ;-) Oh... and BTW... I do apologize if I've made your head hurt... hahahaha... Sometimes, I really should just keep things to myself, and not think out loud. ;-) -Andrew
