Could Not obtain serial port status (invalid argument)
Via (TCPSER)
Hey folks, I'm really getting frustrated here. Here's my setup.
1 c128 (in 64 mode) with a turbo232 running novaterm 9.6 with a turbo232.
I have a linux box (mandrake 9.3) that is returning this error as well as an Xp machine doing the same. The cable I'm using is a Db9f to db9f serial cable with a Radio shack null modem adapter db9f to db9m.
Its gotta be the cable, commodore, turbo232 or the null modem adapter. With two machine with two o/s'es reporting the same error, logic would dictate as such.
Any help would be much enjoyed.

On XP, you can ignore the error. It's a bug in cygwin.
In linux, the error should not occur.
If you can type
at
and it says:
OK
Then, go ahead an use it
If not, make sure you have the latest build (RC8). If that does not work, email me a log and your command line parms.

How does one ignore that error (in XP) when it is fatal?

Okay,
I did get it to run, ignoring the error.
The only wierd thing is when I type a character on the c64 it registers on the tcpser side, but only the first character. I've got alot of playing around to do.
I need to learn how to do this stuff, and quit bugging you guys with hopes of a one cmd option fix.
I've tried, image, centipede, tcpser, Telnet bbs server, 2 different commodores, two different rs-232 interfaces.
Just about had it.
One would think, that if hyperterm and ccgms can transfer files and characters perfectly, the telnet software would do the same. Image is a wierd beast and so is Centipede, at least to me.
Is there any better documentation for telnet bbs server and or tcpser ?
Thanks for all the help thus far.

Is there any better documentation for telnet bbs server and or tcpser ? Slightly out-of-date docs for BBS Server: home.ica.net/~leifb/bbs/docs/However, the best source of info is on these forums, as everyone who uses the various programs is on here, and have worked around most of the kinks.

The only wierd thing is when I type a character on the c64 it registers on the tcpser side, but only the first character. I've got alot of playing around to do. What happens on subsequent characters? Do you get a similar effect with BBS Server? Can you see the data transfer lines light up on the BBS Server screen when you send additional characters? Any error messages? (Turn on all debugging in the Advanced screen)
