Has anyone else had problems connecting to BBSes using names instead of IPs using BBS Server? I'd like to switch from TCPcom because it's a little buggy, but.... BTW, guys I made the rounds tonight with the BBSes. Everybody is doing a fantastic job!!! Jeff (Time to get back to work on mine, maybe after I get modem wars working )

Has anyone else had problems connecting to BBSes using names instead of IPs using BBS Server? What sort of problems are you having? Make sure that your PC can ping the name first, since it's the side doing the DNS lookup. Note that BBS Server gets confused if you delete any characters in the name while you're typing them. I'll fix this eventually. All the more reason to put them into your Terminal program's address book.

I'll get the exact message...
I wasn't aware of the backspace issue...
I'll try it again.
(Any possibilty of adding a quick-dial phonebook to BBS Server in the future?)

(Any possibilty of adding a quick-dial phonebook to BBS Server in the future?) None whatsoever. It's already got a glut of features that I han't intended on. I'm trying to avoid the trap of having too much functionality on the PC side - from a purist point of view, functionality should stay on the Commodore side as much as possible. Besides, real modems don't have this feature.

Real modems did, in a way..
Atdl dials last number
As well, I found it is necessary to have this, as some programs will not accept anything but 0-9 and -. Namely, QLink.
So, I have to alias 555-1212 to jimbrain.com in order to even begin to test QLink...
