Hi all, It has worked out that I am able to get to the LUCKI Expo after all. I'm carpooling with friends from Toronto and was able to get the time off work, even though I just started the new job. Jeff's not able to go unfortunately, so I've offered to do a "TelBBS demo". What that means is that I'm planning to have my C64 set up (bridging through my laptop to the hotel DSL) all day, and people can sit at it and call all your BBSes. Also, I have a half-hour demo booked (time TBD) where I will be using the hotel video projector (!) and demonstrate calling your BBSes in front of the whole crowd. So make sure your BBS is up on May 29th for the whole day! Also get your PETSCII screens and menus just the way you want them, as they will be projected onto a 10' screen for several dozen people to see. If you like, hang around your BBS and you can do a live Sysop chat with the crowd. I'm also going to print out the BBS listing page and hand them out to everyone. That should get us all many more callers.

Bad news Leif, I'm suffering hardware issues at the moment, and I doubt I'll have time to deal with them this coming week. And then I'm out of the country on vacation until June 6 I will try to get the system back online at 2400.

Hey, great idea! I haven't been added to the list yet, but my bbs is up and running, and should be on all day on that day. I just put it on a UPS last night, so if the DSL Gods smile on me I should be good to go. That sounds like great publicity, so if you could pencil in rkbbs.net:23 at the bottom of the list that would be awesome!

I love the Addixion menus, nice and crisp graphics. 2400 baud is fine, as that's the fastest baud rate I'll be able to do for the demo anyhow. Let me know.

Sorry to keep you waiting, wanted to get pics uploaded and needed to install Apache first... First, the pics. home.ica.net/~leifb/commodore/lucki2004.htmThe Expo was great! Like I said above, people started coming to see what was happening even during the Friday night setup. So that was cool. Bo Zimmerman, who set up a TelBBS long before any of us did (see here) was impressed. They never got PETSCII or file transfers working when theirs was set up though, so he had tons of questions. We have some crazy followup ideas, hopefully he'll join these forums soon. I had my C64 and laptop set up all day for people to use to call BBSes with, but it was difficult because of the presentations going on all around. My talk went well. I even had Powerpoint-style slides in PETSCII format (will upload soon) and demonstrated the live connection by calling Riktronics BBS and the Last Stand BBS. We watched several of the PETSCII movies from LSB and people were really impressed. I handed out printouts of the BBS listing from the main page (with rkbbs.net added) and encouraged the crowd, between 60 and 70 people, to call them all. Hopefully you've seen some increased caller activity (I sure have).
