Ok, guys... I've established two"lite" mirrors on a couple free sites from the master homepage at www.petscii.com I've submitted a store to slashdot, but it may help if several of us do so. Just don't submit the forum link in your story, otherwise we'll get too much traffic for this forum to handle. Go for it. Jeff

OK, is everyone psyched? If so, I'll submit one as well later today. I had a story published on Slashdot a while back (see slashdot.org/articles/01/01/30/1552243.shtml) - and believe me, the Slashdot effect truly is incredible... Jeff L, can you fix the spelling on the front page first? Is everyone's BBS up and ready for hundreds of callers?

Ok... I'll get around to the minor changes in version numbers and spelling tonight.. Then I'll be ready on this end. -- Do my a favor, the first one that spots the site on Slashdot, please emal me. I've got two budget mirrors that I will put online so I don't burn the account. Note: YOU MUST USE petscii.lz.st to access the forum when this happens as I will drop the forum from the mirrors to prevent overload in here. I will restore the main site after things settle down. Ok.. Spelling error fixed in "MIRRORS" -- Link to the newest BBS sever is in place. Both mirrors are active.
The two sites hosting the petscii.com site won't take much abuse, but I suspect that the homepage will be google-cached and I will restore the original as soon as it's over.

ROTFLMAO!!! There are HUNDREDS of connections being made to my BBS! I had to reboot it once, something got out of synch with BBS Server, but it is doing pretty good.
I wish I had more stuff to show them...

Great! Mine's been busy non-stop overnight. In fact, I only realized that Jeff's Slashdot story had gone through because I heard my 1541 gronking when I woke up this morning. Ran to my PC in my pyjamas, and saw the BBS Server log constantly saying "Caller from xx.xx but BBS is busy..." No problems, other than the fact that the user log is now full. Microman, that's great to hear about your callers! People who were interested should be calling back, so you should have a good start on a user base.

As of 3:30pm today, the site has logged 7000+ visitors, last night we were getting about a hit second. Thanks to Cyberstreet in Florida, our site continues to stay online through the onslaught. Jeff

Lots of fun
