I see it everyday in newsgroups... "So I'm thinking about putting my board back up on telnet...".
It sounds great, and easy at first, until one actually tries to make the hardware and software work together. I think we're starting to see a proven pattern of how the telnet bridge software needs to control modem line signals, and I think we've created a new null cable standard.
Do you think it's time to think about packaging this knowledge up into some type of howto guide (or telnet bbs standard) so that other 8-bitters can get their systems up faster and easier?
The easier it is for people, the bigger the number of boards that will come back.

A posting to Slashdot would be very effective, but would also generate a scary amount of calls and web hits. ;D
Once there are a few more boards up and stable, and something can be arranged so petscii.com doesn't get creamed (not to mention Jeff L's bank account!!!), we should do such a posting.

Many thanks Leif!!!!! ;D Actually, the several people have noticed that petscii.com is a redirect from GKG.NET to my orrville.net/petsciiPerhaps we could work out some freebe mirrors of the site just before we slashdot it. Jeff

As far as getting info out to the masses I was surprised how easy centipede setup using Leif's program. I am also using a stock null modem adaptor from radio shack. The rs232 interface is an old omnitonix.....I know those are hard to come by these days but it does all work on "stock" equipment.....that should really peek up some intrest.
BTW I am new to this forum and just kind of getting used to things. Thanks
Mike
