Just a quick thought. I was thinking of a way to have a BBS at my location, but mirror the content on a web site (for those interested in the conversation, not the experience). I decided the best way would be to create a special acct on the BBS that I would use late at night to grab all the messages from each board and upload new messages from the web to the board. (My original idea was to run the BBS in an emulator, and then access the BBS files from the regular PC, but that's tougher). Anyway, as I decided this would work, I thought about the next level:
Why not create the application to go to multiple BBSs? That way, it could act as a synchnonizer across BBS systems, effectively tying them together. (Rather like CNET DS2, as I recall). Yes, some boards (CG GFX and such, would probably not work, but general msgs would be OK...)
Anyway, a thought, and something I might develop for my own uses. If anyone finds the idea more than acedemically interesting, let me know.

This sounds like a modern version of FidoNet...
