I'd like to start a thread on the topic of getting file transfers to work through programs such as BBS Link, BBS Server, minicom (*nix OS), etc.
The CGTerm author started to work on this, but currently he's working on other areas of that program. So far, on CSC we talked about some padding issues with EBBS's implementation of Xmodem. We also discussed how Punter's timing issues make it impractical for internet transport.
That pretty much leaves Y and Z modem, which most C64 bbs programs don't support. Hopefully Image does, but I've never used it.

That pretty much leaves Y and Z modem, which most C64 bbs programs don't support. Interesting. However I can't contribute anything to it, I would like to see filetransers possible too on my Atari 8-bit board. With the TelnetServerSofware x-modem downloads should be possible I guess. Most Terminals on Atari 8-bit are able to use the protocols Standard Xmodem , Xmodem crc , CIS Fast Xmodem , 1k Xmodem , Y-modem (batch) , F-modem bat and Z-modem. My BBS supports all of these too, plus L-modem, but not Z-modem.

I don't have much to offer either, I have been working for about 2 months on setting up an Image BBS and was quite dissapointed when I discovered that U/D didn't work... Image supports punter, relaxed punter, and xmodem. I don't know if my problem is a protocol issue or an Image issue, when I try to initiate a download or upload it just displays "go to receive mode" displays 'goo' and says 'aborted' I've tried all three protocols and get the same results for all three. I could use some help too!!!!

With the C64 Telnet Server and C-Net 128 testing locally (Telnet Server and CGTerm Telnet client on same PC) I was able to download using any of the xmodem protocols, Punter would not work. I initially had problems. If I connected to the BBS using CGTerm and selected the PETSCII translation, downloads would not work and lowercase letters would not print in CGTerm.
I then connected using CGTerm and used the default and allowed the BBS to send correct PETSCII codes. Lowercase letters started to display correctly and xmodem downloads blazed.

Great news about file transfers, Eric! Glad to hear X-modem works at least, I guess Punter's just too timing sensitive.
Just to clarify something: The ASCII/PETSCII translation in my program should *not* be used if the BBS natively supports PETSCII. It can be totally disabled in the Advanced screen, with it disabled it won't even prompt the caller.
It's really only there for my own BBS, because EBBS doesn't support PETSCII but I still wanted CGTerm users to be able to call my BBS and have it look right.
Also, it will totally screw up file transfers, as you saw. So please disable it! ;D

Uploads however not. When looking to the Lantronix hardware (MSS100) downloads seems to work only if it is set to "non-raw" Telnet mode. If in "raw" mode, DL's seem not be possible.
