Has anyone put together a listing of active retro computer clubs?
Also, has anyone started up a club in the last few years? How did it go? Is it still kicking???

Has anyone put together a listing of active retro computer clubs? Well, there is a list or two for Commodore clubs. The Southern California Commodore/Amiga Network (formerly, Commodore/Amiga Network) started in December, 2007. It has settled into a good group of regular members in which both Commodore and Amiga computers are appreciated. The next meeting is March 8. I have continually searched for such a club here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and have so far come up dry. It would be nice if there was some kind of central database for that type of info. After all, there might be one meeting across the street from me and I'd never know it. On the same token, I could start one myself but nobody would ever know it.

Thanks for the link! Site doesn't have much (and the owner misspelled his home town twice on the History page ("Castiac" instead of "Castaic") which is a tad discouraging), but I'm glad to see some activity out here in the SoCal area!

Since posting, I've decided to try and start up a retro computer club in the SoCal area (S.C.O.R.C.H. - Southern California Organization of Retro Computer Hobbyists)! Taking baby steps at the moment and I've just created a Yahoo Group to act as a mailing list/bulletin board: [shadow=red,left,300]S.C.O.R.C.H.[/shadow]Once we get enough interest, I'll work on getting a face-to-face meeting organized! I've co-founded and run other club events, so making this kind of thing a reality isn't beyond my abilities! Anyway, if you're in the Los Angeles/Southern California area (or if you're just curious), feel free to sign up!

If you are interested, come over to Castaic this Sunday for the SCCAN meeting. Here is the official announcement -- Hi, C= and Amiga devotees, The next meeting of the Southern California Commodore/Amiga Network is this Sunday, March 8, from 3-5 p.m., in Castaic, California. (If you need the exact address, send me a messagel.) I'll be bringing the uIEC and SD2IEC card drives for the Commodore, the Megabit 128 ROM adapter for the C128 specifically, and the AmigaOne G4 with the latest OS 4.1 update. Bring your extra SD cards for testing out the card drives, Robert Bernardo Southern California Commodore/Amiga Network www.sccaners.org/

There was a poster here in Atlanta on Craigslist that tried to start a vintage computing club here, but nothing came of it.
Too bad some of the existing clubs can't stream their meetings live via Ustream.tv or something similar.

Too bad some of the existing clubs can't stream their meetings live via Ustream.tv or something similar. That was discussed at the last SCCAN meeting, and it was shown to have worked. Not sure what we would broadcast on Ustream.tv, Robert Bernardo Fresno Commodore User Group videocam.net.au/fcugNotacon 6 / Blockparty 3 on April 16-19 www.notacon.org , www.demoparty.us
