Stuff is happening slowly, but behind the scenes.
I hope to get some new stuff done this Fall.

I think the qlink server is stuck. Here's the symptom....log in...disk validates, select people connection, it loads then draws the lobby screen frame but no text. about 40 seconds later, "your telephone connection to qlink has been broken, press f5 to return to basic" and then.. on a relog attempt, "This account is already signed on, Contact qlink customer service." then f5 for a nice healthy sys64738. I saw somewhere else that there was a possibility of getting the source for this server? id love to have it...id mess with it 24/7. It would be one very very cool project to work with. I spent 7 years on the real qlink and this brings back so many cool memories.

any news?? or is this a dead project??..... You know, the story goes that someone once asked rms when the next version of emacs was coming out, and he replied "Sooner if you help". I've got a web-based admin interface about 95% complete. Jim has been busy with uIEC. A good way for others to help is to see that we have a complete disassembly of the client disk so that the protocol is completely understood; it would also be good to have the ability to do higher transfer rates and run it from devices other than a 1541. If you are interested in learning the Q-Link Reloaded server code or database structure, contact Jim for repo access. You can find an introduction here: lyonlabs.org/commodore/HackingQlink.pdf

I'm hoping that there is still development going on. Is there any news that you can share? I would love to see some of the menus get filled in... Basically, using RSS feeds, pulls from websites, and populating software libraries. I would also love to be able to use Music Connection and Rabbitjack's Casino. Here are some thoughts for the specifics. People Connection: Build a c64friends public room that automatically connects to the IRC News and Information: RSS feeds USAToday.com into "USA Today Evening Update" Slashdot.com and/or one of several many good Commodore feeds into "Computers and Technology" I don't remember what "Express Yourself" was. Maybe replace with a category with a Q-Link Twitter feed. Commodore Information Network: News and reference: Additional RSS feeds from CNN.com, etc. Create dictionary app that pulls from web Create encyclopedia app that pulls from web (e.g. www.reference.com/browse/xxxxxxx where xxx is the topic) Commodore Software Showcase Software libraries: Populate Music: SID with Q-Link SID library, CompuServ SID library, and HVSC. I've seen the CompuServ and obviously the HVSC. I'm not sure if the Q-Link SID library was archived. Add Graphics downloads Populate Q-Link Utilities area (Omega Q, etc.) Upload - Build upload functionality Search - Build search functionality Just for Fun The Funny Bone - RSS feeds from joke of the day websites, maybe? No doubt this is a lot of work. I would love to see Q-Link have a bit more functionality. Thanks for considering.
