Okay.. I've had this on my mind for some time. but I don't think I can pull it off by myself, so I thought I'd spread the idea around and see if maybe there was enough interest to turn it into a cooperative effort.
I've always wanted to make an artistic type movie rather than the documentary type I'm usually making. I was very inspired when I first saw this movie (yes, you must watch it first before reading my idea, otherwise the rest won't make sense)

You did watch it first, right? Okay.. And yes, this was made by the same people behind the "Chad Vader" series. Okay.. well, as you probably guessed by watching the video, which is an inanimate object giving the narration, the same concept could be applied to a Commodore computer. Only instead of being a horror story, I thought of a love story. I have come up with a script, or at least the beginnings of one. Here it is, see what you think:
Script - female voice.
-----------------------------------------
I still remember the day he brought me home. (show
young boy unpacking the C64) He was so excited to see
me. I was his first love. We spent day and night
together. He learned quickly how to turn me on and
push my buttons. (boy turns on power switch, types on
keyboard) He played games with me, showed me off to
all of his friends, and I even got along great with
his whole family. (show family with joysticks playing
games and laughing) He was proud of me, and I couldn't
have been happier.
One day I became sick, and he was very worried about
me. (screen goes nuts) He stood by my side the whole
way through it. (technician working inside C64 with
soldering iron) It was a very tough time for me, but
knowing he loved me helped me through it.
We had several more great years together.
But then then my life was turned upside down when she
came along. (show Amiga being unpacked) I was
heartbroken. (boy looks at C64 as if in disgust,
unplugs machine) How was I expected to compare with
somebody so much younger and more sophisticated?
(show Amiga 500 doing 3D graphics) I was moved to a
back room in the house, where he'd come and visit me
every now and then. But as time went on, I became
more and more neglected (show C64 with dust and cob
webs)
Eventually he dumped her, and I thought surely we
would be re-united. (show Amiga being unplugged) But
no, it was worse. He found an even newer love. (bring
in the PC) What a tramp she was. She had a lot of
stuff, but she had no soul. SHe'd obviously been
around a lot because she seemed to always be catching
viruses (show virus scanner detecting virus) and she
would never work right for him. I don't understand
what he saw in her. He never showed her off to his
friends like he used to do with me. In fact,
sometimes, I'd swear he was thinking of me when he was
with her (show C64 emulator on the screen of PC)
One day, he was really frustrated with her, and he
walked by and looked at me. (Older boy looks at C64
with found memories, wipes away some dust off of it.)
I can't remember the last time I was so happy. I
could see he still loved me (cleans off dust with rag,
turns it on) I tried to show him I could still make
him happy. He was for a while, but he went back to
her for a while anyway. Just when I thought things
were getting better, he moved me up to the attic. It
was dark and I didn't think I'd ever see light of day
again. I don't even know how many years passed. Who
was he with now? Was he happy? (show modern PC with
flat screen monitor)
But then one day, I saw light again.. (show attic door
opening from inside.. Show 30 year old man comming up)
-----------------
Okay, that is all I have so far. Still trying to think of a good ending. Anyway, I have the ability to produce most of this myself. The thing I lack is any female who could voice the narration for the Commodore 64. I also do not know of any small boys (probably age 7 to 9) who could be in the opening scenes. I have a nephew who is 14 and would be good for the older boy, and I could be the 30 year old man myself. (my nephew could easily pass for me as a kid) so as long as the younger boy looked like one or both of us to some extent.. this could work. I would also compose the musical score and custom taylor it to this movie.
If anyone thinks this is as great of an idea as I do, then lets start talking about how we could make it happen..
