If you are ever in the Akron, OH area... I discovered a goldmine of an electronics store. Philcap Electronics. About 6 times bigger than your typical Rat Shack store, wall-to-wall electronics. (no wheelchair access, the place is jammed tight!) They have EVERYTHING! Stocked up on exactly the values of resistors I was missing, even found a CMOS SSR I was looking for. Project boxes, caps, resistors, misc connectors, cables, wire, semiconductors. I was very impressed, and in spite of it being nearly an hour from me, it was very worth the trip. Even found some of the 24 pin userport connectors I wanted. ($4.50 each, in some really old packaging.. ) Their website hardly does them justice, but here it is.. www.philcap.com/They even have employee's that are knowledgeable about their inventory. Find that at a Radio Shack!?!! Jeff

Yeah, a good store.
IMHO, it was even better--about a year or so they closed the back 1/3 of the store, which was packed with odd-ball stuff. Maybe they reorganized and reopened it by now?
Anyway, it was a treasure-trove of stuff that probably hadn't been re-priced since the 70's or 80's. I got 25 40-pin sockets, unopened in the original tubes for $5.90. Lots of obsolete ICs, boxed lots of used industrial components, chassis and project boxes, etc.
You needed to look around--usually if found a part, there was a good chance the same part was on a rack three feet away for 1/4 the price!
The only expensive stuff back there was speakers, which I thought were overpriced....
