It's a good time to be a Commodore nut. Why? Because the wickedly fun C=4 Expo 2007 is coming up in a few short weeks (be there or be an Atari user) and now The Supreme Party Council (which is mostly Jason Compton) has announced: [insert drum roll here] The Emergency Chicagoland Commodore ConventionI dare you to find something more interesting to do on September 29th.

Hmmm.. only question is if I can come up with the $500 or more I need to be able to come. (airline + hotel fees + rental car, etc..) Of course, it only costs me that much because my wife would probably want to come, which makes no sense as she was bored most of the time last year when we went.

I'm looking forward to it... I'll have to figure it out again, but I'm reasonably sure this will be my 10th annual trip to Chicagoland for some sort of Commodore fun. Golan/David: Hope you guys can make it out! Anyone else? Due to the hugeness of Ontario, and the relative crappiness of our highways, it's actually much easier and safer for me to drive to Chicago than to Toronto.

My girlfriend doesn't want any part of C=4 but a trip to Chicago or Las Vegas, well, I don't have to ask her twice. We'll have to stay for a few extra days because she has never been to the Art Institute of Chicago and everyone should see Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte at least once in a lifetime.

I can get to either this one or the one in Cincinatti reasonably easy. Anybody been to both have any comments as to which one is likely to have the more vendors, demos, etc?

Oddly enough, the same vendors and demo-ers tend to go to both. ;-) Come to both anyway! They are huge amounts of fun.
I've got ECCC on my calendar already for this year, I really missed going to last years.
Like Golan said, Chicago is great if your significant other is along. There's plenty to do there during the day (especially architecture tours and walks), and you can't go wrong with jazz and blues in the evenings.
The Metra is excellent for connecting Lombard (Expo site) with downtown Chicago, the only downside is that it stops running soon after midnight.

Rush Street I have friends in Naperville (wow, that's close), and one downtown--they drag me to Origins (Columbus, Oh) every couple years, despite the fact I'm not much of a board-gamer. Maybe I'll return the favor. Hope I can make it this year--it'll be a first. At least fall weekends are easier to manage than those in spring...

murple: FWIW, I've never been to the Cincinnati one because it's beyond the distance I can (reasonably) drive in one day, and I avoid flying as much as I can due to the hassles and cost. The Chicago one has that "critical mass" thing going for it that means friends from Sweden, Mexico, Canada and a wider range of the USA make the effort once a year to meet there. That said, the Cincinnati show seems great, and I'd really like to make it there someday. If possible, why not try both? gmoon: It'd be great to meet you there! I'll be bringing my DTV prototype boards again, and some other stuff.

@ Robin: likewise (and the rest of the dtvhacking crew, too.) Be great to see the prototype, etc.
I'll just have to plan on it...
