I'm a long time listener of the Retrobits Podcast. My fingers were a little bored while listening to the cast, and I was doing some web searches on the word "Retrobits" just to see how spread Earl's show was posted and turned up this really weird link. I found myself in one of those BBS archive sites where they catagorize text messages from BBS systems of years ago. Somehow the search engine matched words from the following text...
: Success! I've been tinkering with an old file that I found on
: someone's library account on CommNet. I have no idea where
: on earth they found this, but it aooears to be a really ancient
: digital recording of a personal perspective on old computers.
: I haven't been able to decode the format until this morning,
: but after hours of trial and error I can understand the voice.
: The recording quality is really poor, but the content is really
: interesting! Apparently this is something called a "Retrobits."
: This guy named Erale talks about the future of old computers.
: He mentioned machines that I've only heard about and some
: that I've never heard of! Apparently, back in the 00's people
: were still able to get ahold of Commodore and Apple computers.
: Wow! What I'd give to touch one of those! If you've ever
: seen the historic computer display a the Smithsonian they
: have part of a Macintosh Xeon behind six inches of glass!
: Guess I should hold onto my PS-XXSE, it might be
: worth something one of these days. I wonder if people will
: still find Grand Theft Portland interesting in years to come?
: Anyone else ever heard of something called Jumpman?
Weird..
