Is that resolution sufficient?
It should be, a 320x200 (default resolution of a NTSC 64) picture is only 64000 pixels.

I have a question for you, Wouldn't it be easier to use a Classic Atari Lynx, instead of the Lynx II? I'm just suggesting this because you said the boards didn't fit. The thickness inside of the original lynx and the lynx II is the same. The reason the boards didn't fit is because I was trying to use a color lcd TV and the DTV board. The tv board was quite large and very thick due to the electronics mounted on the tv board. But after seeing that the tv's screen didn't take up the whole screen area of the lynx, I decided to use a 3.5" lcd monitor. It has a thinner board. Which gives me more room to work with. Plus it has a much better picture than the tv did.

Nice dude! I'm going to try my had at a portable dtv, but I'm thinking something more in the form factor of a wonderswan. Anyways, congrats on finishing this project, looks excellent!
EDIT: Is this along one the lines of one of those benheck portables? That is, does it have a toggle switch to go from the built in lcd, to a tv through A/V ports?

Is this along one the lines of one of those benheck portables? That is, does it have a toggle switch to go from the built in lcd, to a tv through A/V ports? Thanks! Nope, This is a complete portable C64 DTV system that I came up with on my own. Of course Ben's work inspired me to do something like that. But I didn't have to make any custom parts. That's where you start spending $$$. There are no video ins/outs. Also there is no tv in this one. The previous project was abandoned due to the lack of space for everything. So I made that one strictly a TV with A/V in. I used a 3.5" lcd monitor(no tv function) and the DTV board. Everything fit nicely.

That is some NICE work. I love what you have done, its great. Now, show the people that sell the DTV and say, "THIS is what you should be selling"

This may top the list as one of the coolest DTV mods yet. I'll need to add this to my website.

This may top the list as one of the coolest DTV mods yet. I'll need to add this to my website. Thanks David! This has been the toughest DTV mod I have done yet. And I have spent many weeks, days, and hours on trying to get a layout of how everything should be and wiring it up. The hardest part was figuring out what goes where and how.

Yeah, very nice indeed. Any details on the battery charging circuit? Lets see...... I used a Tenergy universal smart charger(7.2v-12v). I made a cable with a barrel plug to use the existing dc jack of the Lynx. Of course the charger says don't recharge packs with less than 1100ma, so I had to use a resistor to drop the charging current down enough to charge the battery pack without overheating the batteries. Which I am still experimenting with that too. I haven't had a chance to sit down and record the play life of a full charge yet.
