I apologize if this has been posted before somewhere else, but I'm in a rush. Jeff Ledger, where did your Simons' BASIC docs and compiler go? The link from petscii.com doesn't work anymore. I've got Arndt Dettke's Tuned Simons' BASIC and I'd like to experiment with it a bit. No clue where my original manual is to Simons' BASIC, though. Probably in some box somewhere The story of my life...

The URL I think you're looking for [1] appears to have been lost in the shuffle and with Jeff being tied up with his move, I'm not sure he'll be able to get it sorted out any time soon. Luckily, I'm a digital packrat. Here's a link to the docs and to the compiler. You might also want to check out the Wikipedia entry as it has lots of info. Hope that helps and that all is well. Is there a Simons basic compiler?
I ditched simons basic a long time ago since the programs doesn't work on other C64s unless I have my cartrisge with me, or load it from disk. And beacuse I couldn't compile them. And the renumbering sucks. It's better in ExBasic, where all goto/gosub changes too.

I know, I know. It wasn't really a question. It was a chocked exclamation in a qestion-like form... But if I use all Simons' Basic instead of only V2 basic and then compile it. Will I see any difference in speed compared to a non-simons' code compiled with austro speed? Hmm... I have a file named "SIMONS BASIC II". I wonder if that would be TSB. I have to check that Why do I only have a photo copy of the manual, when I got the cartridge? I have to ask my father about that...

Will I see any difference in speed compared to a non-simons' code compiled with austro speed? That's a tough question to answer as there are so many variables (figuratively and literally) and neither result will be as fast as if you write the thing in machine language yourself. The upside is that programming BASIC with Simons' BASIC is so much easier. The auto number and renumber commands alone make it worth it for me. The downside is that you have less room for your program although I don't find that to be a big drawback as my BASIC programs tend to be small. Give it a try and see what you think.
