After reading some threads and looking at the pictures it seems to me that modding the DTV is dead easy, right? It's just a matter of connecting the right wires to the right soldering points.
Or is there a catch?
I have soldering experience but I'm no electronics wizard.
Also a nice FAQ or instructionpage about how to mod the PAL DTV would be nice (maybe Six' how-to could be altered for that).

For the most part, you are correct. Soldering is the easy part. I've done two different types of DTV mods, see this website for pictures: galaxy22.dyndns.org/misc/commodore/index.htmlI can tell you that the hardest part was actually drilling, and carving out holes for the connectors. I discovered the plastic (of both the DTV and a jiffy-box) are too soft for a dremel and it is easy to overshoot where you wanted to carve. This is especially true for joystick ports because they aren't totally round. So you can't just drill a hole. I found the easiest way to do it is to draw an outline of what you want. Then drill a big hole in the middle. Then take a good, strong knife and slowly carve the plastic away until it is the shape and size you want. Also be sure the LAST holes you drill are the screw-holes that hold the connector in place. This is important, otherwise your screw holes will never line up. If you can actually slide the connector in its new hole, then drill the screw holes through the holes in the connector while it is in place, this works the best. The second hardest part of modding a DTV is making sure the wires you connect are the right ones. For example, you have 4 wires to solder to the port for the disk drive. You have to make sure they go to the correct pin. It is easy to get them backwards if you aren't carefull. I've done it twice and had to go back and desolder the wires and reverse them because I was looking at the diagram the wrong way. Anyway, good luck.

If I held my iron THAT long on each soldering point my IC's would be all dead...

Cheers for the replies!
Going to buy the needed parts next week to give it a shot.
