Hi, I don't know much about electronics and that stuff... So here are some (maybe stupid) questions. I the hacks of the DTV, there is always shown a external power supply with 5V (...I did that, too). But if I add the 4 1,5V batteries, I get 6V (of course...) So...doesn't it realy matter, if we use 5V or 6V? No effects on maybe the video/sound output or anything else??? AND, what if I'll use a 9V input? Another question is about that "thing" the video and sound cable is wrapped around (just before it leaves the DTV). What is that for, and do I realy need it ? Thanks dudes....

I'm not sure (I am no electronics expert!), but I'm guessing the LED supplied with the DTV acts as part of a simple regulation circuit. Though, what voltage it's regulated down to I am not sure. My guess is supplying your DTV with 9v would possibly damage it. The thing the video and sound cable is wrapped around is (I think) a ferrite ring which is supposed to help reduce interference.

the LED will drop around a couple of volts (1.5-2V or so)
dont you can connect 9V, the unit uses a 5V linear regulator that can take up around 30V or so, it'll get hot though so i'd not recommend it
the thing is a ferrite ring, it helps reduce EMF (interference)
