Hello, I'm completely new to DTV and c64 in general (I was an atari 800 guy). I just heard about the DTV today and like what I see. I'm thinking of making a handheld dtv out of a portable TV and one of these: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5192862886&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1SD readers. I was also hoping that I could get a (non-bluetooth) PDA keyboard up and going on it. ...not a cheap project, but (slightly) cheaper than a PSP, and PSPs don't play Ballblazer. I've noticed that you do a lot of guides with keyboard and disk drive ports, but it's really the expansion port I'm interested in for the SD reader. Is there a guide for this? it must be possible as I briefly visited the CF reader topic. anyway, this is just a brief hello, I've got a bit more searching around here to do. my last crazy project: www.geocities.com/reaperman93010/

Sorry.. at least with the currently available DTV, the I/O lines neccessary to connect the device you are talking about are not available. Unless you are good and surface-mount work. So far nobody has been successfull to interface the I/O lines for the address and data bus.
A PDA keyboard is also unlikely because it is not PS/2 compatible. Again, since there is no access to the data-bus there wouldn't be anyway to wire the keyboard matrix up to the DTV.
A better solution would be a mini PS/2 keyboard (ussually very similar to the keyboards found in laptops but made for a desktop) and Jim Brain's Compact Flash design. his isn't quite ready for sale to the general public but it would work with the DTV because it interefaces to the IEC serial bus, which is available on the DTV.

will v2 do it? I suppose with 2mb onboard flash, I don't care about SD support anymore anyway--2mb should hold quite enough. With v1, I just assumed that the built-in games were stored on the expansion port. I also assumed the roms were under a separate 'glop'. and that they'd be easy to get to *sigh*. I suppose the easiest thing to do is figure out how the games are stored in the game glop, and dremel it off the board and replace it with flash. It almost sounds less than insanely difficult when I say it like that... is there a photo with major pieces labeled somewhere? where do the games hook in on the diagram? Is there a v1 diagram? did all those expansion/cartridge pins used to go 'inbetween chips' that are now combined? --too many little questions. My skills are poor, but I am decent with PCB work (for an untrained amateur). That pcb doesn't look easy to solder to but luckily toysrus.com sells tvgames at two for $30... as for the keyboard, I've been searching the net for somebody who'd converted one to something useful without luck. So far I was mainly hoping that nobody went out of their way to make them non-standard. However, those playstation 2 joysticks with built-in keyboards--they hook to the system's usb ports... probably a decent chance there. usb keyboards are adaptable. It's about the size I was looking for too. I haven't even gotten my DTV yet... one last silly idea: the tape drive. How automated was it? of course that's the long way around, since there are two better flash solutions in the works. v2 and CF.
