I recall that Easter was thrown around as the estimated release date. Any chance of an update on the progress thus far?

Good question. I don't have an answer, but I have to ask.. how hard can it be? I mean there isn't that much design change is there? I feel lucky since I live in the USA and already have several of them. But what I'm afraid of is that they are completely remaking the PAL version to include all the cool stuff we don't have on the NTSC version.. like nice stable clear video, and I/O port availability.. Then us poor folks in North America won't be able to enjoy that..

PAL version is supposed to be out this month and it doesn't sound like the hardware has changed too much. I've already got a couple of NTSC versions so I'll be getting a PAL one and comparing them as soon as I can. Here's a link for more info... www.redkeyreddoor.com/directory/tvgamedetail.php?tvg=24Personally, I prefer the selection of games on the NTSC version, and with the s-video mod, I'm more than happy.

Actually, after looking at the different games included, I think the PAL people are getting a better deal. The only games I'd miss would be the World of Karate games.. I mean, seriously, who picked some of those crappy titles like Bull Riding?

Here's what I've gathered on the PAL DTV differences, mostly from being on IRC at the same time as dW or MagerValp revealing the odd tidbit The PAL DTV has much higher compatibility than the NTSC version, it supports most (?) illegal opcodes which has been a problem with the NTSC version, and also is much more accurate with VIC emulation. This means the unit will be able to play most of the tricky PAL demos and some newer games that use the same techniques. Pinball Dreams for instance, yay! There are also some new graphic modes built in to the PAL version, which I'm a bit hazy on so I'll let someone who knows more fill that in if it's appropriate. I'm not sure about the clear stable video, but I think something like that will most likely be fixed. From what I've heard the board itself will be much the same. I've also heard that the PAL DTV core can actually do NTSC as well, I'm not sure what's involved in that or whether it's actually hackable. Surfing, Bull Riding and such "games" on the NTSC DTV were actually parts ripped from Summer Games and World Games. The PAL DTV has the full Summer Games (yay!), and no ripped parts. I'm really really looking forward to the PAL DTV, it'll be able to play more games without any fixing involved, and it has the potential for new techniques to be invented with the new graphics modes. I think there are a few ppl in the PAL scene who will have a go at making some tech demos with it Again, I'm not 100% on any of these details, but the relevent ppl do frequent these forums and I'm sure can add more Cheers, Damian

Well, I may have to get one. Even though I live in the US, I just got this neat little box designed to hook your VGA monitor up to any S-Video or Composite source and it support NTSC and PAL. I bought it, actually, to hook my C64 up to my nice LCD monitor. However, I can see a dual use here.

Novatech UK are doing them Doing them? That's most definitely the NTSC version. The PAL version is being manufactured right around now, and they should be available within 1-2 months.

Quoted from redkeyreddoor: Word direct from European C64 D2TV distributor Toy:Lobster is that it’s now June. “It will definitely be at the end of June,” they told us. “It starts shipping in the first week of June and will certainly be in shops and online stores by the end of that month.” So it looks like we'll have to wait that little bit longer

Now we'we made it quite a bit in august, and still no news?

I've just come back today from a stay in the UK and the catalog retailer Argos had the PAL DTV in stock for $19.99. I almost picked one or two up until I realised that made them almost $50 Canadian each.

Hmm... their site doesn't say if it is the PAL version. Are you 100% sure?

To quote myself:
The board says: "EL-C64A2 2005/Jun/24" It has the right 16mbit RAM chip, and the correct 31.5279MHz oscillator for PAL, as seen in the schematics. So this is definitely 100% the PAL D2TV.
I had to find out that all the hacks that are easy on the NTSC version are really hard on the PAL one. That's because there are no descriptions of the pins on the board, and the schematics that have been posted here (64v2schematic.pdf) don't match the version of the board that actually ships (the schematics are from April). So it's not easy to determine which pin is which on the PCB, e.g. the schematics claim that Keyboard Data/Clk are on the pins TP2/TP3. However there's no TP2 on the C64 D2TV board.
Tried e-mailing Jeri for updated docs, but didn't get a reply yet.

No, it's quite real. It's also not a quick reworked NTSC one, it's the new board, with all the extra RAM and new features.
I can post pictures if necessary.
