Since a week I cannot connect anymore to Q-Link Reloaded. I am using the patched version of Vice downloaded from www.quantum-link.org, and at first, it worked fine. Since a few days ago the problems began. I attach the QLink disk and load the software by typing 'LOAD "*",8,1'. The software loads and just before the Hit F1 to connect message is displayed, the screen gets black and freezes for 5-10 seconds. As long as the screen is black, I cannot move the Vice-window with the mouse. After that 5-10 seconds, the message Hit F1 to connect appears. Hitting F1 results in the connecting-message, and one '-' sign is displayed. Normally a second '-' is displayed just before a connection is established, but now it just stays 'Connecting - '. It happens on all PC's I try, with my own disk image, with a fresh downloaded disk image and with a new downloaded patched Winvice version. Also tried to connect with Winvice 1.17 and 1.18 (from www.viceteam.org, but no result. In all cases True Drive Emulation is set to On. Please help!!!

I had the same problem. I think that we were using an old IP address that recently was deactivated. It was redirecting us to this IP address - use this one and you should be able to log in.

You are right! My Winvice tried to connect to 12.217.178.211:5190. Maybe this is the reason that it is so quiet the last days. Strange that there isn't an announcement of this modification. Anyway, it works for me now. Thanks!

The IP address can change and it's linked to the name but the name don't change. So if you can use the name not the IP.
I know in the UDS-10 you have to put a IP I think. It will not do a name. So you have to find out what IP the name goes to.

Raymond is on the right path. If you ever have trouble connecting to Quantum Link Reloaded do an nslookup (yeah, it's deprecated but it's ubiquitous) on ql.quantum-link.org and you'll find out what the current/correcct IP address is. Use that number and you'll be set.

I would suggest getting the Qlink Winvice v2 package I put out. It was patched and used the URL name, and not an IP address. That way, the IP can change 50 times if needed, but still you would be directed to the new IP instead... Look in the Qlink files section, it should still be there. As an added note, unlike the original Winvice package I did, v2 doesnt include the qlink disk images. That way, you won't need to worry if you are upgrading your winvice package, about it possibly overwriting your qlink disks.
