OK, we got logged onto Qlink from WOC... 1 User, 1 Room. What's going on, am I on the right server? I installed the quick-start .exe from the homepage. Helpz0r!

"IRC c64friends" wasn't in the list of rooms for some reason. We joined that, and it worked. Chat became more lively.

i believe a patch for q link is being worked on to allow TCP/IP connections.
In the meantime you have to either get a Silver Surfer RS232 connector to plug into your RR board and then use a null modem cable OR download the disk image and connect through VICE as I am doing at the moment.

Are you sure that Q-Link works with the Silversurfer? I thought it only worked with RS-232 adaptors plugged into the user port. If the Silversurfer does work it will be good news indeed.

well not sure, just thought the fact it provides a RS232 interface would be enough! Didnt know it had to be the user port

Q-Link works with user port RS-232 interfaces because that is where it is expecting to find a modem. It sends signals to and receives them back from the user port so we're able to replace the modem with devices other than modems that will do transport. I think that Q-Link would need to be patched to be able to use a Silversurfer and I suspect the patch would be non-trivial. I haven't heard of anyone working on such a patch though.

I dunno much about the silver surfer and rs-232 interface for it. Stock qlink disks needs something on the userport to work. So you need an rs-232 interface pretty much. However there is the patch for swiftlink support which works. Although I should point out that currently, games do not work with this patch...but you can at least get on and do just about anything else.
If the silver surfer rs-232 interface is swiftlink compat, then I would assume you can just use the SL patch and get on.
Otherwise, don't forget you can always get online with your pc using vice/winvice.
