Just thought I'd share that I've been using Q-Link on the RamLink for several weeks now and it is working great. Raymond Day thought I should share this experience with others here. Since the validation routines do not modify your disk, it is safe to make a copy to the RL and use it instead of your original. And if you need to go back to the original, you can do so.
Keep in mind, that if you make changes to the disk on the RamLink, you should back that up to another media such as floppy or hard drive. This way if you loose power to the RL, then your modified disk is not lost. I'd recommend that you boot off of your floppy or HD master image if you plan to make changes, such as add a new user name, and then copy that updated disk to the RL.

Very, very cool. I am working on a program to rip the programs off the qlink disk image and turn them into standard commie PRG files. I've got the compression worked out. It's somewhat huffman based, but I'm not sure if it was built with a huffman tree. Very much intended for a table based decoder. If we can do that, we can easily remove the 18/15 dependancy and then it can be installed onto native partitions, rather than just 1541 emulation partitions. Also, this is a big step to putting the software in a hacked up hummer game. We would only need a modified DSC that just issues standard load requests. It should also be possible to upgrade the software, mostly I'm hoping to make it easy to replace the RS232 drivers with an alternate set, maybe even making it configurable with IP addresses. We shall see on such things. The three letter files give a list of track and sector pointers to different forks. Each fork has a series of hunks. Each hunk can be compressed or stored, and can have it's own load address. The first fork loaded has a different header that the additional forks do not have. The last hunk loaded must be a basic program that will start up the system. I'm also wondering what Jim needs as far as protocol stuff. As far as I am aware, we know just about all the protocol except for rabbitjacks and puzzler, but if he has higher priorities, I can start poking into those areas. Unfortunately, I'm just not a java coder, so it's hard for me to help him on the server itself.
