Iv'e been thinking about learning a new language. I know BASIC, some C, and have many years of UNIX shell and Perl under my belt. I've also mucked around with Logo and Pascal in some form.
I was looking at Squeek and Go, but realize that running old software on new hardware is funner than complicated modern OOP languages that can't seem to grasp.
Now I realize, especially being a UNIX guy, the master C would have a lot of value.
So, I was thinking either mastering C, or learning maybe Fortran or Fourth.
What are everyones favorite Old Language ( that may or may not be in use today )?

We still use Ada extensively at work (not in my department though), so I've always wanted to dabble in it. And Ada is very similar to VHDL (for FPGA work), so it has more modern applicability.

I've always been hooked on assembly language since the old TRS 80 days. Just happen to have the C64 and C 128's to play with that have those great manuals and aren't that complex as the Intel x86 stuff. I do have an IBM thinkpad with the borland Turbo C loaded on it. And it ( think pad)also does Quick basic. I'm just in a holding pattern..... as far as doing some thing. ;D

Z80a assembly for me. Assembly on a Zilog Z80 can be beautiful. Compared to other 8 bit systems the Z80 based systems generally didn't have the best graphics, but using assembly they were the number crunchers of the day.
