I was wondering since vice with the dtvrom.bin runs a couple of games that the dtv won´t. I have flashed my dtv with games from the repository as well as some unpatched ones. I tested the unpatched games in vice first to check if they were compatible. Those that passed ended up on the flash. All worked fine except Mikie, it runs but slowly and with very flickering sprites. Another game is Sentinel from the repository which freezes on the "press any key screen". On vice it runs fine. I assume the kernal in dtvrom.bin is modified. I rather not touch the lowmem of my dtv but if i get better game compability i just might. I tried loading the games from floppy too to be sure that they were flashed right but the result were the same.

Sentinel works fine for me too (with kernalpatched kernal(s)).
As for the unpatched games: currently x64dtv has (much) better C64 compatibility than the DTV does. The DTV has some timing differences that cause such flicker in games. The differences haven't been pinpointed (and emulated) yet, but they are under (slowly progressing) investigation. There's a lot of work to do before x64dtv can be trusted to be as "broken" as the DTV.
As a summary: always test on the real DTV before flashing.

Thanks for your replys, i´ll leave the kernal as it is on my dtv for now. And yes, some kind of hardware problem it is. I gently tapped the box containing the dtv and Sentinel started working! Makes it a little hard pinpointing the problem.

I assume the kernal in dtvrom.bin is modified. The flash image included in VICEplus 1.1 and VICE comes with the original DTV kernal. The only change is that games and the menu have been removed and replaced by an info "splash screen".
