Well I had been meaning to watch this since it was first advertised, even my gf thought it looked funny and finally got round to it last night.
It is quite amusing, but needs to find its feet a little. Any person in the IT industry will chuckle at the techie jokes.
My main point as Earl mentioned in his last podcast was the number of retro computing paraphanalia in the background. I spotted the Commodore PET, the Sinclair ZX81, the Atari 400/800 poster and saw plenty of old games posters dotted around. There are so many things lying around, I wonder what other gems are lurking there!

It was OK. Just OK.
For me though the funniest bit came at the end.
The guy told the story about them being drunk in Amsterdam and hiring prostitutes, but being too scared to do anything with them so they took them to the funfair.
Then when the end credits rolled they showed pictures of them at the fair with the girls, but they were sat in one car and the girls were sat in another. They were too scared to even sit with them.
Just tickled me. ;D

miner2049er: Where in Lancs are you from? My family is from Bury. Mighty Shakers! I'm in Leigh. Probably central between thurstan and your family. I keep saying I'll go to Bury market every week for the speciality black puddings served hot, but I never seem to make it there. Would only take me 20 minutes too. BTW do you say Burry or Berry?

BTW do you say Burry or Berry? That's a tough one. My pronunciation is shorter, more like burreh. Definitely not berry though. I'm not a Mancunian (thank goodness). Just don't call us yonners.

It's a bit cliche but I like it. As for the computers, if it wasn't for the distinctive shape of the PET's monitor I wouldn't have recognized it. The bottom part looks different somehow. Maybe it's just because it's worn. I think it's great that they put the show on the website for download. You wouldn't believe the lengths I had to go to so I could watch Extras.

It seems that Channel 4 has taken the episodes of IT Crowd offline for some reason (I have no idea why). If you're still interested in getting them you can find alternate download methods (Bittorrent etc.) from here: atariboy.wordpress.com/2006/02/03/the-it-crowd-episode-2/. Hope that helps.

Episode 4 of the IT Crowd is now available. You may be able to download it from the URL I gave earlier. Unfortunately their site won't let me download it with my browser because I'm not in the U.K. so I'll have to use wget to grab them. Why do they bother trying to restrict downloads when it's a trivial matter to circumvent their measures? (Especially when you consider the audience for this show.) When will they learn?
