Now if only ToyLobster would wake up and smell the potential profits! Why aren't they making something like this? Is it because they would rather release a few games at a time on different DTV versions instead of one unit that could easy run all the old software thats out there? Maybe the market isn't really that big... I would be bad person to judge, haha

They were going to do just that. I believe there are still unresolved legal issues. It appears now as if those legal issues are going to be around indefinatly.

Excellent, now I don't have to make a c64 laptop because you did it for me The case is excellent. For future reference, you could make the case smaller and les square-ish by LED modding the PSone screen and chopping off the top off the lcd PCB. The screen normally draws about 750mA, but with 3 white 3mm LEDs, the screen is plenty bright and only draws 350mA. You won't need the backlight inverter either, so you can chop off the top of the lcd's PCB. I did it for the portble N64 I built. Also, instead of soldering composite video and audio onto the small connectors on the front of the PSone screen, there are pads on the back that are easier to solder to. Nice job.

Makes one wonder why Sony didn't use LED's in the first place, especially for a portable device. Yeah, if only this screen supported S-Video, it would be perfect for just about any application.

I did have the screen completely disassembled and I was going to do the LED hack, but decided not to because I only had one screen to mess up and no white LEDs at the time. It seemed like it was taking forever to get everything working and that just added another area of complexity. I only had a week of vacation and I was trying to get a functional unit in that time. I looked at cutting off the inverter part of the PCB but it wasn't going to get me anywhere. I needed the space in the bottom part to house everything anyway. Maybe a hack for another day.

Does that mean I get a free subscription? I was going to subscribe to that magazine, but its a little out of my price range. It was either get the magazine or buy more parts to 'make' stuff with, haha

Fantastic stuff! I'd love to do something like that one day (using actual hardware always feels better to me than emulation) but, alas, my soldering sucks donkeys

116 145 205 thread views right now! By the time this rush is over, if only one out of 100 visit Radio Shack and ask about the Hummer, there's gonna be 150 300+ 400+ clerks scratching their heads! (hopefully each on in a different store...)
OK, I'm sick of updating this . Let's just wait till the dusk clears and Jeff can give us the stats.

You never know until you try. Patience and alot of double/triple checking is all you need! And a DTV and tools of course.

Looks like the counter for the thread rolled over!
It was over 25K last time I looked. Now it's @ 1.5K. Max resolution of 32K, maybe?

The last time I looked, it was about to hit 50,000. I've seen certain threads reset before at lower numbers in the past. I'm not sure why... server maintainence maybe?
