At the moment, CML requires 'CMLServ' to run on the PC to translate data from the Internet to the 64 by way of a serial port connection to the 64.
I'm planning to move development of CML to VICE since I managed to kill one of my 128s during the hours/months of creating CML 1.5.
To do this, a low speed RS232 interface (7404,MAX232, or compatible type) will be required as well as two avail. serial ports on the PC.
VICE configured to 2400baud and pointed at serial port 1 A null modem cable connecting serial port 1 and port 2 and CMLServ running pointed at serial port 2
I will post details of how this works out as soon as I can get the second serial port installed on mine.

I can do you one better... though about $10.00 more expensive. I wanted to try CML via Vice... and it's easy. Download the following: LEIF BLOOMQUIST'S BBS SERVER - www.jammingsignal.com/files/GPSGate - franson.com/gpsgate/CML Serv - You know were that is. Instructions: Install GPSGate (Cheapest and simplest Virtual Com Driver around) Set Up GPSGate for Input = Virtual Com4 Output = Virtual Com5 Install BBS Server Set Up BBS Server for Com4 with IP Port 25232 (VICE Default) Advanced Options: Set Com Speed 1200bps Uncheck Emulation option "Send Connect" Start CMLServ on Com5 Load 64Broswer and GO! It's working great with me and I have NO com ports on my Laptop. hehehe ~Blair

I'm pleased to see this cheap alternative... The server revision has too many bugs to open it to public access, and I've been working on an alternative, but this looks even better.
If I understand correctly, the "Express License" for 1-4 computers ($9.95) is what you are using?
Nice find.. looks to be another good tool for my utility toolkit.

What is this GPSGate and what does it do? I would really appreciate a more indepth explanation of how this allows CML to be used in VICE.

Right now at this minute.... I'm still using the 14 Day free trial. But yes... the $9.99 version is what I'm using and going to buy soon. I can always use a virtual null modem program that is this easy to use. for both work and play. For those who are wondering... I found GPSGate while googling for "virtual null modem" It is ment for multiple people to use the same Garmen GPS, but there site even suggests alternate uses as a general Virtual Null Modem. ;D ~Blair
