Has anyone had any luck getting QLink to load from 64HDD?
I have my HDD set up as device 8, and load"*",8,1 gives the red screen and begins the load. A few seconds in to it the HDD beeps three times however, which is what it seems to do when it receives a command it doesn't understand (it does the same thing if I have an Epyx Fastload cartridge in the C64 for instance.)
I am guessing that what is happening is QLink's speedloader code is kicking in at this point. Is there any way to disable this and have it use the regular serial bus protocol for loading?

The DSC patch is out there in a couple of variants. There is one at my website www.phin.com/qlinkIt's not an error free process to apply, and the disk layout must be exact. Qlink loads things by track/sector numbers, not by filenames. On CMD stuff, you can use a 1541 emulation partition, along with the DSC patch, and it should work. Dunno on any other HDD system.

Cool, thanks Henrik!
64HDD actually has a 1541 emulation mode (you can "cd" directly in to a d64 image stored on the hard drive, and from that point it's supposed to be a 1541 emulation, but only using DOS calls - the 1541's CPU isn't emulated, thus speedloaders don't work.)
So the patch you pointed me to should work. I'll give it a try and will let everyone know!

Just wanted to say that the patch works fine, so we now have another confirmed way to load the Q client - from a 64HDD D64 image.
It's a bit slow, but not horribly so.

64HDD runs over the standard serial bus?
Yeah, it will be a bit slow, as the patch kills the fastloader.

Can someone detail the steps to patching the d64 image? www.phin.com/qlink/ has the patch dsc.txt for QuantumLink.d64, but what are the steps to apply the patch? Thanks, greg

Would it be possible to post a D64 image of a pre-patched disk, but without username?

I seem to recall two things (at work, so can't verify):
Quantumlink.d64 in that directory has the patch applied newdsc.prg is the patched DSC. If you have a way to put it on the disc image (any d64 handler utility can do it), just replace the original DSC file with that file, named, of course, DSC.
There is another patch that was done by CMD back in the day for their HDs. Same trick.
