I just thought of this. My last Q-Link boot disk is set up for the turbo232/swiftlink cart. going at 2400 baud. I thinking I can use the Palm Ethernet Cradle and by pass Linux/Windows RS232 to Ethernet. I don't have time to do this right now. I have to get to work soon. But I thought I could post it here so other my test it out to see if it works. It seems like it just my work I still have not install the tcpser4j to do RS232 to Ethernet on Linux or Windows. I don't get how to install it. But if the Palm Ethernet Cradle works I will not have too!

No, Palm cradle expects valid PPP on the serial side, and QLink is not PPP.

OK. Then how about the Lantronix UDS-10/100? It uses RS232 then goes to Ethernet. I will have to test it. I guess just set up the Q-Link to dial the number atdt 12.217.178.211:5190 if it will let you put in a number like that.

Qlink is picky about what you can put in, but i *might* work with the manual setting as used with VICE. You'd have to type the atdt... line.. Let us know. Jeff

I hooked my LANTRONIX up it was hard to find a cord to plug in the RS232 and the back of the LANTRONIX. But I think I have it. 2 Mail 25 pins on each end with a Gender Changer.
Q-Link will not let you dial a number like a IP address. But I can go in SnapTerm with SuperSnap shot and call the IP and then just use I guess the +5551212 in Q-Link.
I need more time to set the LANTRONIX up I have not use it in a wile.
But before I spend a lot of time does any one know if this has a chance of working?

It was hard for me to set up my Lantronix. I had it set to 192.168.101.64 then I set my subnet to 101 it was just 0 and I could get to it to set it up. I temp put my IP to subnet 101 and then changed Lantronix IP to 192.168.0.64 I put it at 1200 Baud. But it looks like I don't have a cable to hook up in it. I need 25 pin female plugs on each end.
I use Snap Term at 1200 baud but it don't do any thing. I think it's the RS232 cord.
I have to go to work real soon. So I can't test it out good. I my put a modem on it to test it.
But not sure it this will work with Q-Link. I will use super snap shot to get on the ip address then get back on Q-Link and maybe that will work.

Use manual dial. Put +5551212 in QLink, but use Other Command Driven Modem
Boot QLink, it'll drop into a terminal mode (Lantronix needs to be set to 1200 bps, as does QLink) type whatever command LANt needs to connection to qlink.quantum-link.org As soon as the connect happens, hit F1

I guess I just need a RS232 cable with 25 pin female on both ends! I don't have it. I looked all around. I guess I will have to get one.
I used what I think is a RS232 cable. 25 pin to 9 pin and then a 9 pin to 25 pin adapter. It did not work. Even a gender adapter on it still did not work. I go in Super Snap Shots Snap Term. I type AT but get nothing! It is set for 1200 baud too.
I used the VIC-1011A and I all some have a home made RS232 for the commodore I made a long time ago with a 25 pin female connector on it. Both don't work. I put my Minimodem C24 on it. The Minimodem LED went to 1200 baud. LED off. I used Snapterm and can do AT and get OK with that.
On the PC I set up the LANTRONIX with the IP and port number to this Q-Link and in hyper term at 1200 baud I can just type atdt and it shows this:
atdt CONNECT TERMINAL=TERMINAL=TERMINAL=TERMINAL=
For each TERMINAL= I pressed Enter.
I then did +++ath and it got back to were I can just type at and get OK back.
So it looks like it will work if I can get the right RS232 cable!
I been at this for hours! I set the LANTRONIX to it default and then I could not get any RS232. I had to find out how to turn that back on. That took a long time.
So if any one has a UDS-10 or UDS-100 set it up and use your Q-Link disk and it should work!
I am going to get on line to see if I can order a RS232 cable.

It's working! I made my own cord! 25 F/F on both ends with only the 2, 3, and 7 pins. The VIC-1011A did not work. I guess it's only 300 baud.
But my home made one did.
I used the Katydid Q-Link boot. But I put a tab over the notch. So it could not wight to it. I did not want to mess up her names on it. But it said it could not validate it. So I did it again. But it said Katydid is used. RaymondD2 is used too. Looks like I will have to get the D64 off this PC and copy it to a real 1541 disk. That's what I am going to do now.
But wow this works!!!

I used CMD utilities to get the QuantumLink.D64 on a 144 fat32 floppy. I copy it to my RamLink. Then I used the d64it1b.prg to copy it back. But the qUANTUMlINK.d64 was the wrong letter case and d64it1b.prg would not find it. I exit out and used CMD utilities again to rename it. Then I put it on a real 1541 disk. When it got to about "Converting, Track: 9" I seen that I did not switch out my CMD utilities disk and now it's my Q-Link disk So many steps and I forgot to switch the 1541 disk! I had it right there too! When I started it on my 128 in 64 mode it said validating disk. It showed some junk screen for only a sec. then went to all one color! I had to reset When I type the atdt it comes back with a red atdt and connect. I then press F1 I used my Q-Link on my CMD hard drive. I am in People connect and only 2 are there now! It's working on the commodore! Ray Day, QADMIN Jim is only there now I had to use some other name I guess Jim can reset it for this Q-Link disk to have my RaymondD2 name Or just delete my name and I guess I have to validated the Q-Link disk then.

If you don't let the disk validate, you cannot get on. And, since i have no record of what names and such might be on your disk, the sever simply starts a new user dialog, which would wipe KatyDID and all the other names on the disk.
As for being logged on already, if you die or shut down without logging off, it may take up to a minute for the server to disconnect you. If it takes longer, email me and let me know, as I am still cleaning up the premature termination code.

Hmm Let me know if you have gotten this to work.. I tried it myself and put it on a 1581 disk and get nothing but a blank screen with a colored border once it's loaded. Course, I'm trying this in vice, soooo By the instructions it looks like it's making use of the nmi which may have a problem in vice. I've got jiffydos loaded too. If I press F1 on that blank screen, there's a moment of disk activity, but nothing else happens. I can do that over and over. I'm mainly shooting for removal of the custom loader that qlink uses, so if you have different files that just makes that happen, it'd be much appreciated. -P
