Hi! For the last couple of days I was doing some search on info how to run BBS with WinVice without having real C64 connected to the PC (reasons for that - look at the end). From what I've found I know that it's possible under Linux, but with Windows - maybe yes, but... Can anyone provide me some FAQ or a couple of links to info on possibilities of running a BBS with WinVice only - i.e. without C64 anywhere near, but with, let's say, BBS Server and some other soft/tools (like sth about connecting two COM ports with nullmodem cable). If it can be done of course with curreent WinVice version. ----- About me: My name's Marcin, 28, I live in Krakow, Poland. I got my C64 when I was 10 (it was C64C - earlier version with the old SID plus 1541 FDD). Don't have my C= anymore, but some years ago I found about emulators, starting with C64S and now staying with CCS64. Three days ago, browsing Lemon64's forum, I found out that there are still C64 BBS alive and I got hooked up . I did not own a modem when I was a kid so had no chance to call any C64 BBS and now I'm catching up with my "lost years". Calling BBS is a great fun but I'd like to see how it works from inside. I'm not so desperate (yet!) to swicth to linux to start a BBS so I'm asking about a way to do it with Win XP. TIA

There are sysops who are running their telnet bulletin boards virtually. Have a thorough look through this forum because this issue has been discussed repeatedly and different people have had different levels of success. If you're willing to run an older version of VICE and Color64 BBS software, everything you need can be found here. Welcome to the fourms.
