Hey Pina - I was trying to locate your site today with the programmers ref guide on it, but couldnt locate it. Is it still out there somewhere? Id like to build my collection of Image stuff, so if you have D64s or (preferably) D81s of the plus files etc, can you post them up somewhere? With such popular software, its sad that its so hard to find CNet/Image/CNet 128 files on the net. Heya Xlar... Yeah, I tried CNet 128 the other day on my 128. Seems pretty nice except it wants to lock up at random times. I think I'll borrow some of the features for Image 2.0. I did discover a feature in Image 2.0 the other day where you can display your "activity queue" (the last ten commands entered) and they're accessible by ^0 to ^9... now I understand what those lines are doing in the error log So I promptly named the command AQ a la CNet 128... and added it to the ECS command set. Um, PM me your email address, and I will email you a zipped copy of the Image Programmer's Ref Guide, ok? I really need to finish it some day

Well, I've started rooting through my hard drive and archiving Image stuff, mostly into .VSD (Vision Self-Dissolving) format. I'm going to make a run over to Riktronics BBS and upload some of it Oh yeah, and I finished the Image PRG.

I am intersted in running an Image BBS. I used to think of Image BBS as the ligitimate future of Commodore BBSing before the web took over. Even though I love DMBBS, I can't get DMBBS 5.3 to boot. but then again, I could get Image to load either. I guess my choices are to either get DMBBS 5.3, Image or CNet Amiga 3.05c working or I'll be forced to go back to the Synchronet BBS/ISP I had setup.

Electroflash, I'm not sure if you've seen the posts I've made elsewhere, but I've been in contact with Nick Smith lately. He's the author of All American BBS. He's agreed to send me copies of the last version of AA BBS that he wrote for both the 64 and the 128. Not only that, but he's also sending me the SOURCE CODE for both versions. He said he wants to release all of this to the Public Domain, and he's authorized me to distribute it on his behalf. I hope to have all of this sometime next week. I'll be updating my BBS to run on this new software, and I'll be making it available for anyone else who wants it. Until now, the newest readily available version of AA BBS has been v8.0. I'm running v9.6, which is the last version I got from him back in the late 80's as a registered owner. But according to him, the last version he wrote was 11 or 12, which he released in '92 or '93. So I'm happy to have found him, and now another "lost" piece of software will be found again! Anyway... I just wanted to let you know of another "option" for your BBS. :-) -Andrew -------------- Cottonwood BBS (951) 242-3593 --------------

Now if we could all put our sysop-ly heads together and get Image NetMail working in both directions at once (I've blathered on about it working in one direction, possibly because of Metal Mage using a copy of my serial #) in Image 1.2(a)... we'd have something. Documentation! *stomps around in jackboots* I demand documentation! Documentation of modules, documentation of the network format (I've started a bit of a dissection thereof on my own)... hmph. (I also demand that I may or may not be Vroomfondel!) Then I've got the project of getting Image 2.0 up and running (waiting for Rascal to OCR the programmer's reference guide) more than I did last year (it was briefly available on telnet although there's not much to see, much being unfinished)... I have my work disk available to anyone who wants to see, etc. etc. Email and ye shall receive. Oh yeah, and there's thoughts percolating around in my so-called brain about implementing a "quote" feature in the sub-boards (well, bookmarking threads and the "join" mod written by Iron Axe for the TurboRELs, too...) so ideas, ideas, ideas (y'can see the thread I blather on about elsewhere as "Image Wish List" or something similar)... Yeah, I harbor similar thoughts about the love of Image. I thought/still think Image is kinda the "cream of the crop" in terms of Commodore software. Some hate it 'cuz it's complicated and IBMish in its featureset, but... perhaps we could simplify in 2.0 via the use of the graphic menu. (Best illustrated by the IM setup package!) And oh, the structures... Uh, so what's giving you trouble with Image? Are you running it in VICE, or using real steel?

Geesh, so much for transferring the files over via null modem cable. HyperTerm mangles the case of every file, and a filename with a / in it creates a new subdirectory. I need to try getting tcpser4j up and running again and use a Commodore term program to preserve case and filenames. My d: drive is FAT32 on the PC with 1581copy. 1581copy won't run at all under Windows XP of course. Soo... not sure what else to do. ;P At least my mom let me borrow her laptop, and I have my wireless network card and so I'm on for as long as I want today at the library, yay. I use Winvice, 1541XM cable, 1581, and FCOPY+ to copy files in and out of disk images. Slow, but NOW that I have Fotios' network cart, and it actually WORKS, I'm going to Warpcopy. FB-Net!!!!!!

I use WCOPY+. Nice and fast. And I like the new user interface.

Well, I finally got off my dead butt and started work on changing the phone number to be an email address in Image 1.2, as requested by DPAKLOD. Emailed him alpha copies of the changes tonight. We'll see if they totally break his system >.<

Great news! For those who are interested, I've finally completed the Y2K patch for the Image 1.2 line. All it took was some quality time with the VICE monitor and learning about its ">" (store bytes starting at a specified memory location) and "bank ram" commands (bank-switch the ML underneath the $A000 BASIC ROM area). I was able to change the top status line year from 19xx to 20xx, and discovered how to change the lightbar colors (unlit and lit). Previous changes made were the colors of the flashing chat page (they were shades of blue instead of grey) and the top status line was dark blue. With this knowledge, I could probably come up with a color customizer module.
