My c64dtv mod is finally finished. Epoxy and duct tape, a modders best friends! I kept the the powerswitch and ligthdiode with frame from the dtv. I wanted to be able to play flashed games without keyboard so i put the five extrabuttons of the dtv on it too. Good buttons are really hard to find, either they are too big and bulky or just too expensive. So i settled for these, the kind that are meant to be soldered directly on a pcb. A little glue to keep them in place. They give a nice "clik" sound too when pushed! All the necessary ports. the s-video is just a dummy yet. Resetbutton. Joystick ports. And here it is, running Mr Do's Castle. A game forgotten by everyone, still one of my alltime c64 favourites and in my meaning a very good conversion from the coinops! Unfortunately there are a few glitches playing it on the dtv that are not present on a real c64. Monsters jump vertically through time and space to appear just in front of you, or climbing down on ladders that aren´t there! A little more playtesting before next flash! Things yet to be done: Spiffs lumafix. S-video, maybe a switch between RCA and S-video. Something to be able to use a two firebutton joystick. Since the xy pots are not used by the dtv maybe they could be wired to the second firebutton on the box, and then use a two firebutton joystick with a custom wire. There are a few things i would do differently if i´d ever make another one, but all in all i´m quite pleased with the outcome.
