Regulated 5V PSU to the +/- Battery terminals

So, with a regulated 5V PSU to the +/- Battery terminals i don´t have to use the 7805 IC then? Something like this:

No 7805 needed if you use that adapter. I use a similar one from an USB hub (and a +6V adapter on my other DTV). Just make sure you get the polarity correct
