For those that have been following this thread, I just wanted to mention that I've been the hold up to getting something released. Sorry about that. Anybody that happens to be a sysadmin in North America knows that the last little while has been very busy getting machines patched for the time zone changes coming this weekend. (Well, at least the lazy admins can relate. ) Enough moaning.... Anyway, tonight I sent off a couple of disk images and the documentation I wrote to tlr so I'm hoping we'll see a DarkStar 3.1 release sooner than later!

Just as soon as I posted this code, I noted that these were all in my Complete Commodore Inner Space Anthology -- listed alphabetically, not numerically.
At this point, I call the program to autoboot "STAR", and all is well here at the Mighty 247 Story LOADSTAR Tower!

That's awesome. I used to run darkstar and was a test stite for alot of that Overlink madness. I remember having having the poker running.
The Primary Site for Darkstar was run by Captain Colgate called TSE (toronto software exchange). I remember going to his house in Don Mills (toronto) and seeing the most craziest setup computer wise in my life at that point. He had an sx64 hooked up to a midi inerface and keyboard, he was one of the first sites to a LT kernal and when he went Amiga had a stock A1000 with somekind of interface to have 2 MFM HD's attached to it. I drank alot of beer and was over there for a few copy sessions.
I ran a Darkstar BBS for a long time. I still have the original documentation written by Allen Peters and the ink has fused with the clear plastic sheet protectors.
I have been trying to copy that disk for years. WHAT A PAIN!
I got the BBS up and running about a year ago through a telnet port and was on the net for a few friends to log in and see the messages from that time period. Its annoying to log into.. unless you have Darkterm running.. Darkstar BBS's had the best user interface and graphics support but you needed Darkterm to see it.. especially the overlink area.. as darkterm supported cursor positioning.
I wish could get the rest of the message base up... but my 8050 got trashed during a party in the mid 90's.. Anyone want to send me one? Just Kidding.
The system I was running was pretty crazy for its time, IEEE interface with a SFD1001, CBM8050 a few 1571's and a 1541 as the system. I think I had the biggest board in TO until LT kernals showed up.
thanks for the disk, I wanted to do some work on the board but the editing process is nuts on a stock machine.. emualtion really helps. If anyone has any questions about the BBS I'm pretty good with it.

wbochar: Welcome aboard! You actually have the original docs for DS 3.1? If so, is there any way I could borrow/buy them from you so I can scan them in? My docs included with the release here are basically all from memory and seeing as how long it has been, they're far from complete. Also, if you have a more complete copy of the software I would love to get a hold of that too! Wasn't Captain Colgate's board called Terminal Velocity? Thanks so much for joining us here! I'm determined to get a Darkstar BBS back online sooner or later.
