Welcome! Hopefully we'll get a few more people here soon.
Basically, this forum is dedicated to the creation of a C64 Network game using the RR-Net and/or ETH64.
Here are the ideas so far.
Rewrite the classic "Weather War" aka "Ouranos" to allow head-to-head play over the Internet with the RR-Net. You can find both games on GameBase64 to get an idea of gameplay.
I thought Weather War would be appropriate because it's fairly simple gameplay, turn-based, and it was one of the very first two-player games for the C64 (Actually, it came out for the PET first).
UDP for communication, based on MagerValp's IP65 library. (or Sixnet if it's ready)
Gameplay would be almost identical to the existing version, with the addition of a Chat function.
Character-based graphics (easier to send the status of your "house"over the network), but we could have a custom character set if time/memory allow.
Rewrite the game into ML. The existing versions are in BASIC, but ML would be much easier for network integration.

What's the development method of choice for code nowadays? I'm going to get involved in coding and I have no doubt collaboration will be going on. So, I need to make sure I stick to the current written/unwritten standards on some level. Does everyone prefer ML, or C? What's the preferred method of sharing? Just pop up a webpage with tarballed source?
Thanks, all!

Each project team/demo group/etc seems to pick whatever suits them. Cross-assembling is pretty popular. If you're working on a real 64, you don't have a lot of options for sharing though ;-)
