Hey Mike,
You have an Osborne 1 - that's great! I remember when it came out, our store had a display model. Man, the software that came with that machine was unreal! And for $1,795, that was a good deal, considering that it was a complete business solution. The portability was neat, too. But, it did have that strange 50-something character screen with horizontal scrolling - took some getting used to.
What kind of shape is the machine in - does the screen work OK, and how about the drives? I see them every now and again on eBay, and sometimes they are in really good condition.

Hey Earl Exterior is a little dirty but the insides are good Its not the 1st edition but I believe the second that came with the 2 drives that had the doube Density upgrade built in and also had the attatchment for using an external composit monitor the internal green screen monitior works good and I have the version of CP/M that handles the upgraded drives . Also its the upgraded drive format thats only one readable by the 1571 and 128 in CP/M mode if hooked up to an external monitor its white on black instead of green mono. Ive learned recently how to transfer DLed images and to format CP/M disks on a PC but need a new 360k 5 1/4 drive for the 486 PC I use for transfering (according to I beleve name is 22disk or something like that 1.22 5 1/4 drives do not work for image transfer) I got the Osborne given to me about 10yrs ago guy didnt want it so got a good deal Recently found an original users guide published by Osborne Computer on eBay for 5 bucks Thats a BIG Help Lots of good info. I have to spend some quality cleanup time on it and get a some pics up. Will let ya know when I get pics Mike

Earl, That was a very good show. Quite informative. Hearing about Frederico Fagin reminded me of all the interesting books I've read about the computer industry (we've talked about some of them in this forum) and I got to thinking that maybe you should do a segment talking about some of the 'must read' books like Fire in the Valley, Soul of a New Machine, Hackers and Accidental Empires. Learning the history of the computers we love is almost as much fun as using the computers. P.S. What is your cat's name? I had to smile when your cat joined in the podcast because as I was listening one of my cats was climbing all over me trying to get a belly rub.
