There was a single disk demo of QNX ( www.qnx.com/) that came with a web browser and all kinds of other useful stuff. It is no longer available but as it happens, I archived a copy (yeah, I'm a virtual pack rat). If you want to try it out you can download it here: www.vex.net/~falco/petscii/qnxdemo.zip.

The idea seams to be to use the Flat Assemble and create the program code. I would rather have the "binary file" to download. I looked over their forum --32 bit section-- but didn't see any reference to binaries. Dilbert

Golan, Yes, I've used QNX on the floppy before. That's not bad. It Is that I was HOPPING to find an entire OS the size of a floppy. I've have tried several LOAF (Linux On A Floppy) versions. Linux is just too large of an operation (my opinion) for the floppy size. They do work though. Also have used the Live CDROM , Knoppix and others. Puppy Linux Is the best I've seen --about 150 meg The small cdrom size. www.puppyos.com/index.htmlI'm Not advertising for them. But I was Looking for a TRUE OS on a floppy. I think MinuetOS might do it IF I didn't have to build it up from scratch. Dilbert

Fair enough. I no longer think in terms of what will fit on a floppy having been without a floppy drive for five years now. I'm a switcher who 'thunked' different. I spent a lot of time dabbling with live CDs, even homebrewed my own, but then I got a 2GB USB flash memory drive as a gift and I'm never going back. I've got it setup so I can pop it into a PC or a Mac and moments later I'm in a familiar environment with all my tools and toys. Lovely.

How about some pointers On getting the boot up and running on the Flash drive? You may have already done that. Link? Dilbert

Followup: I don't have enough time to run MenuetOS source code through the FlatAsmblr. Too......much learning. My thinking was that it would be floppy size (1.44meg?) Small-ish anyway. My "itch" is for asm. language , so it's a normal "think, well maybe....". END: Dilbert

I recall playing with Menuet a couple years ago when it was in early developement. IIRC, I had to use my image-->disk program to create the disk from the .img file, but the results were well worth it. I should download it again and check it out, but that would involve actually hooking at 3.5 drive to my computer... L A Z Y.. Jeff
