Okay well that's settled then - I'll try to put some time to this when I can. Excellent, looking forward to it.

To answer Golan's post - I have the last revision, PAL2 which I think you refered to as V3. I have some EURO and some Ilatian packaging - both are the same content. Now, a question I would rather have answered: Do they have Atmel or SST flash? (it may be easier to see the batch number than opening up the unit).

Spiff - if you do want more, you should act soon as the stock is dwindling. just let me know your requirements and I'll try to work a solution to get them to you quickly, including if you want to buy a few cases (a case is 6 pcs) and then distribute them on in US.
With regards to the story on the DTV, I can say with absolute conviction that I was with this project from the start to the end so I know the facts of the story despite their manipulation by everyone (yes including me at times). I will guarentee that the story, when I do get to write it, will be based on only the facts where I can write them, being mindful of some active legal exchanges between some partners.
It is important to mention that I never met Jeri Ellsworth, nor infact ever communicated with her other than the odd email. So my story will pick-up from when Jeri finished the chip.

Thanks, well, I'm in Denmark, so buying cases to distribute in the US would be a lot of extra work for me Also, I already have 4 unmodified units, all with the Atmel flash, and presumably all v3. The question is if 4 will be enough once I get on with my modding spree. My main concern is that I will end up with a bunch of DTVs with the SST flash at a point where these are so rare that they will never get supported by the flash utility. With regards to the story on the DTV, I can say with absolute conviction that I was with this project from the start to the end so I know the facts of the story despite their manipulation by everyone (yes including me at times). Well, I'm sure you have much better facts than many of the other people who have been discussing the story of the DTV ;-) We'd all like to hear your story

Was it ever determined if there was an authoritative way to determine whether a DTV used the Amtel or SST flash chip by examining the packaging?

Was it ever determined if there was an authoritative way to determine whether a DTV used the Amtel or SST flash chip by examining the packaging? I can answer that simply as "no". I controlled the packaging design, but never had knew which chip was being used. I have asked somebody that would know if there is anyway to identify this and will get back to you when I get the answer.

I should program a macro that says, "Thanks, Simon!" I'm considering ordering one or two more DTVs while I still can and if I spend the money I want to be as sure as possible that I'm getting the v3 units with the Amtel flash so I won't ever have to consider buying another.

FASTEST DELIVERY from SIMON -- 4 DAYS (London to British Columbia, CANADA)
Just wanted to mention to everyone that my order for a PAL DTV from Simon was delivered so fast that it beats any of my orders done thru eBay USA!!! considering it was coming from London, England.. I thought it came from Spain because all of the words printed on the C64DTV are all in Spanish..
ANYWAY, I got this new PAL DTV. Based on the stamp, this is a Version 2 with an Atmel chip The stamp number is 050919...so I will be busy planning how to proceed with my "modding" weekend....
Thanks Simon

I just checked out the website ( www.c64dtv.co.uk/), and there's a note there dated 3 July that they now have more of the PAL DTV's in stock, and sales have re-opened worldwide! Yippie! ;D -Andrew

I just put two PAL DTVs on eBay: search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZsmf912One is boxed, one is not. I know you guys will give them good homes. :-) Oh, and you can (potentially) disregard the USA only, that was cut and paste. If you are known to me or seem trustworthy then it shouldn't be a problem. Just contact me before bidding!
