Perhaps the best answer would be to use the version included on the NTSC DTV's ROM already. it runs the right speed and I'm sure if it works on the version 1, it will work on version 3. If you don't have a copy, I'll see about pulling it off my DTV's ROM this evening for you.

Sounds like a good idea, I don't have a copy of the DTV1 version on disk so if you can provide that I can patch it and post it tonight as well. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Well today before work I patched another version of IK for a test. THis version is more complete with both level files. It looks to be about the same as the version from the DTV1. I ran it on my hummer and had the same issues with graphics. I did give a try to save the IK from my DTV1 but forgot to account for the problem of it's size. I will have to hack out a little code to read under the roms etc. I think the best bet may be to save $801-$CFFF from Basic and then use an ML stub to move $D000-$FFFF down to $4000 and save that chunk from there. Not to much work but a bit more than I could take care of last night. What I really want to know is what is different from the version in DTV1 and the versions I have tried so far. David did you have any better luck so far getting IK out of the DTV1?

No. I haven't tried yet. I've been extreemly busy with some other issues around the house and likely will be the rest of the weekend.
I had planned on simply loading the game from the BASIC prompt and then saving it to the 1581. I don't know if that will work for IK, but I have done that several times with other programs and it works (even if they are in ML) And if that didn't work, I was going to load the program into RAM and try saving it with an ML monitor. I realize the files on the DTV1 are lacking the basic line with the SYS on it, but shouldn't be too hard to add, I wouldn't think.
We should ask Robin about I.K. I remember somebody saying that some of the games had to be modded to fix certain compatibility issues. I wonder if that is one of them.

We should ask Robin about I.K. I remember somebody saying that some of the games had to be modded to fix certain compatibility issues. I wonder if that is one of them. Yeah, we started with Epyx's NTSC release of IK which was called "World Karate". It required some work to fix timing, since DTV v1 IRQ timing etc. was a lot less accurate than v2/v3. I think we also changed the background colour on one level to make up for two DTV colours being too similar in colour... like the red (?) fighter looking half-way invisible against the brown (?) background. MagerValp and Mark Seelye worked on that fix. It's already been well over two years since that first project... memory is going on me I wonder if I still have any IRC logs from back then, they might be interesting to you guys...

I will be sure to take a look at the World Karate, I am sure that will take care of the main issues and then just a few minor problems to worry about. It did seem like it was a PAL>NTSC issue. I should have results soon. I have been distracted from game conversion of late due to the arrival of my 1581 kit. Well back to work .

Finally connected those three low [0-2] userport lines, and played Ms.Pacman last night. Welcome to the Hummer gamers club! And to celebrate your joining the club, here is the classic Green Beret which was also known as Rush 'n' Attack This game has a great sound track from one of the masters, Martin Galway.

I have added two new disk images to the collection. Now there are three Hummer Games disk images. Three down and ten more images to go before I can fill my hummer with games. Looks like I am going to have a monster collection of games on this unit. I must say that I have waffled back and forth about the exomizer compression of every game. In the end it will allow me to hold quite a few more games so I guess I will endure the few seconds in favor of a larger collection. Besides how real is it to play C=64 games instantly? I must have sqanderd a huge percentage of my free time on loading games in the 80's.

And so on the big Turkey Day, I bring you: 1942 by Elite! a great game conversion from Arcade. I love this one and just thought it would be a good release for today and also as game #20.

I'd put the last two on my website, but the link isn't working right now. I'll try it again later.
I wish somebody would take all these games and create a flash-filesystem out of them, along with some other usefull hummer utilities. I would do it myself, but I've been very busy these last two weeks with a video project (not DTV related) that is consuming all of my time. So if nobody else does it, I'll eventually do it.
