Well, I finally broke down and started the path to hacking my extra DTV. ;D
One thing I noticed right away - the video output from a DTV looks really bad on a Commodore 1702 monitor (front inputs). The screen is very dark and has a noticeable "shimmer" to it. The text on the game menu is nearly purple instead of the normal gray. Almost like you get with low batteries.
I tried two different DTVs - one with fresh batteries and one with a 6V power supply. Both looked exactly the same. The monitor video looks fine with a 64C attached though.
However, the video from the same DTVs looks perfect on my regular television.
Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas about what the problem is?
I'd much rather use this on a real C= monitor for playing around with, but the video isn't really usable as it is.

I have the exact same problem... Actually, the DTV looks poor on both the 1702 I have, and the 1702 you have. (Remember, I used your monitor at WoC) I'm using for math night, so I hooked to the TV I'm planning to use, and it looks fine. (A slight shimmer, but nothing like the 1702)

Don't know if this helps, but it works quite well with a 1902a.

Hmmm, I'll have to try it on my CM141.
Anyway, I found on the 1702 that the video quality is drastically improved by cranking up the brightness. Sill a bit of shimmer, but it's much more usable.
