Hi all!
I wanted to ask if there were plans to release Q-Link Reloaded to the public, so others could run/host their own Q-Link servers/systems?
I saw a post where the users were asking about the source code being released, I guess if that was to happen then it would be possible to run personal or private q-link system.
I've been toying with the idea of running a C64 or 128 BBS, which would contain files for C64/128/VIC-20 & PET systems, but the idea of leaving one of my C64s or C128 systems on all the time doesn't sit well with me. I thought about doing a BBS through VICE, but that wouldn't be authentic, so my thoughts were to see about being able to run my own Q-Link type server on one of my Windows or Linux boxes that I have here.
Anyhow, if there is any information on Q-Link Reloaded being released to the public either as source or a compiled program, please let me know.
Thanks John

Although it is entirely possible to run a personal instance, it causes some issues. Namely, there is a small pool of possible users, and I think it's best if all of them congregate on the instance we have up now.
Second, if someone has the time to manage and provide content for a personal instance of Q-Link, I'd rather they take over the management of the single instance we have. I only signed up to help code, not manage.
However, at this point, the project lacks one key ingredient: admin screens. There are lots of functions in the code waiting to be turned on, but there are no web admin screens to manage those functions (like file uploads), so I have not turned them on.

I only signed up to help code, not manage. Seriously? I'd love to host/run/manage it. I have extensive experience running online services (built my first one from scratch in 1988). I have server space and bandwidth available. Let me know!

Servers and bandwidth are no problem. I actually don't host it, LTSHosting does for free. And, given the issues arund the domain name (no offense, Jeff) getting lost, I'd really rather keep a hold on the server install for a while, at least until a group of developers grows up around the codebase and I don't have to feel bad if I don't code for it much.
But, I am SOOO happy to hand off amdin duties. As noted in my PM, there are no web admin screens, and there needs to be some (because, Q-Link requires an admin and QHosts, and they all need some tools to do their work).
The web screens can be coded in anything that is web savvy, and all they need is MySQL integration. I can do them, but my heart is just not in writing stateful web admin screens.
Sadly, I had a person offering to do them in PHP, but that fell through, and another in Java, but that has not borne fruit either.

That's too bad. QLink Reloaded has such potential; sadly, I lack the programming skills to join the project. Content, maybe, but... Thanks for all your hard work, Jim.
