Hey, it's been a while, but I'm nosing back in here now and then. Too bad to see how quiet it's been, but, we're all busy, I think. At least I have been this year.
I need an 8-bit project to work on. So. I have the pieces needed to extract the quantumlink software from it's compressed/packed/obfuscated form it is in now to proper commodore program files. Is anyone...interested?
The upshot of it would be that we could start making patches to the software, fixing bugs, adding features.

I'm interested. Being free of having to use a 'Quantum Link disk' would be great and being able to make changes to the client-side software might be just what is needed to rekindle interest in Q-Link. It's odd but I've never really examined my Q-Link disk so I don't know what's on there. I'll have a poke (no pun intended) around tonight.
I'd love to hear any specific ideas you have.

Henrik51,
I would be interested, but as many others I am real busy with work (new job). Very little time for hobby stuff.
However, I always liked reading your info on the quantum structure, compression, etc. and how qlink worked on the server side. Your work is very commendable.
Sincerely,
Jeffery S. Stone

Well, progress. Starting sometime prior to 5pm on Sunday would have helped with more progress. However, I have written a replacement DSC that loads from standard commie PRG files. I have extracted all the programs used in the ASK, REG, DMO and MMM modules, and written them to standard PRG files. I have written a patch to 9903 so that it loads the account info from ACCOUNT,SEQ rather than straight from Tr/Sec 18/15. I may yet redo that to just load/save a prg file. In short, enough is now working from files to connect to the server and get to the main menu. However, as people report the server is down, I obviously have not done that. Also, the basic programs contained in 0006 (dialer and menu), 9902 (disk registered yet?), 9901 (registration/configuration), 9904 (demo) are fully modifyable. I have not posted my results anywhere yet, as I expect it to be in severe flux at this time. Oh, one other one...0008 is the quantumlink logo. Someone should figure out it's layout once I release my results and do us a nice 'reloaded' logo.
