I looked for hours. I found some things but no text to say how to use SuperQ. Some one must have it. I found some files. I made a D64 of them. Not all are super Q but they are Q-Link files. They are: PUZZLE EDITOR PUZZLER SUPERQ PATCH 8000 8001 8002 CONTESTANTS I am not sure what they all are. But looks they are for Q-Link and the only Super Q thing I could find besides my SuperQ 1541 disk. I hope some one has more info. on it. It would help Jim out. Here is the link to the D64. rayday.no-ip.com/internet/Commodore/mywebpages.comcast.net-raymondday/q-link/Q-EDIT-SUPERQ.zipI just put the qcolor info and prg on this .D64 It's not the same as the color pro on the SuperQ disk. This one will change the colors any were in Q-Link. You run it off line from basic.

As far as I can determine, it DOES NOT enhance any non-PC/MC departments in any way shape or form.
I'm glad this was a free download for me, or I'd be really angry.
I repeat, this does not enhance any non-People Connection/Music Connection departments on QuantumLink.

Seriously, I have the same questions... 1) I already have M/C on my disk..will this interfere with it? 2) I refuse to mess around with the colors as the last time I did...took me 3 hours to get them back to the way I liked them. SUBJ: 4S /f5 K d g (R) FROM: MeEric 12/15/89 S#: 813472 Well for all of you who are STILL undecided, here's my 75 cents (inflation ya know) -
This IS just an enhancement to MC. If you like MC then you'll like this.
The default colors ARE pretty bad. If you want the default colors that came with MC, then here they are: Background - Gray Text - Dark Blue Top - Dark Blue Border - Black Input line - Dark Blue Super-Q has some pretty neat utilities, the best of which is probably the 'Read a file from the disk and put it in your Email area' option. It looks like you can compose a letter offline, then read it into the email buffer from the disk. No more lengthy email sessions! You now can also save your email in MC/Super-Q and you also have an 'answer' option too. You also can do disk functions while online.
Now the Bad News -
This (like MC) doesn't work with Q-Dos. Also, this doesn't even seem to want to load if I had Q-Dos enabled! Only worked if I used the regular 'Quantum' boot. I also have Casino and Club Caribe on my disk, but they don't seem to interfere with Super-Q.
You still can't choose a different drive for saving anything to. At least I haven't found a way to, besides Q-Dos. (and this doesn't work with Q-Dos!)
This only took me 10:38 seconds to d/l. I DID NOT have Q-Dos running when I d/l'd this - I always seem to have problems when using Q-Dos and d/l'ing enhancements to Qlink for some reason.
Hope this helped! :) -::-
SUBJ: 4S /f5 K d g (R) FROM: DEMIGON 12/15/89 S#: 30427 ^subj line happens only if u dl this puppy then leav a comment here right after.then your screen goes to trash "error in line 21 :SUPER Q "bla bla bla... still hooked up to Q but stuck here have 2 kill comp, but so WHAT!NOT + TIME.& this SuperQ really WORKS,plays a bunch of songs that MC would NOT! Anyone hear anything about that new multiplayer graphic game Q's coming out with yet?

SUBJ: superq (R) FROM: Itro E 12/15/89 S#: 824748 Let's ya save EMAIL in MC, eh? Plus, it lets ya play ENHANCED sids? Sounds like a most excellent download to me.

SUBJ: superq (R) FROM: PED2 12/15/89 S#: 410660 d/l'ed it last nite. It's pretty good, though the default colors are pretty BAD!
The only problem I had was that there was no file called "SUPERQ" on my disk when it was done. Instead, the filename was the same as the strange subject line on the majority of these posts.
I got around it easily by LOAD "*",8 but this will only work if it's the first file on the disk.

SUBJ: superq (R) FROM: FatalCharm 12/15/89 S#: 44105 Hey Arch, glad ya finally got it! :DD
Chris, maybe you should really check the software out before you post negative comments that will cause someone to miss out on a great file. HHMMM, I was just about to start naming all the great things this does to make "MC" easier, but hey, its all listed already in the "What SuperQ can do for you" area. SO READ IT! :/
One thing it didn't mention, which Demigon did bring up. The Sid Music player has been fixed, so now, 80% of the un-enhanced sids that weren't playing in MC for some reason are now playing just fine. :)))))
For those who said, "I never use PC so this is useless" Well, Why don't ya? Your loss. :DD I don't use regular old "PC" either, but hey, stop in to MC/SuperQ and just relax with some good friends, some interesting Sid Music, and a system that is now easier to use then ever before. :) The easiest, user friendliest, entertaining system in existence. :))) C ya in the MUSIC HALL. ];>

SUBJ: superq (R) FROM: Quitic 12/15/89 S#: 18678 It's a pity Quantum didn't spend time improving the system as I thought that was what Super-Q was gonna be. :/ Well, now I'm gonna try downloading it, I don't go much into PC, but I still like having what sounds awesome.

SUBJ: superq (R) FROM: RangerX3 12/16/89 S#: 413125 well....yes the default colors are pitiful....wondering if there is someway to save the colors you choose so they will come up when you 1st sign on......I like the idea of saving OLMs and the concept of uploading Email after composing it offline is nice but only shows that Qlink is almost like a NORMAL online system. You cant have your uploaded Email longer than 45 lines or more than 38 characters across. If it is longer than 45 lines your Email files have to be broken down into mini-files. I long for the days of Personal File Transfer so I could upload sequential text files that are 80 characters across and as long as you want them to be. I know the story is that hackers were uploading pirated software into the PFT but maybe Qlink should have a separate Email area like ALL the other Online Services. I've always liked the option of sending the same Email to many people just by entering the parameters of who you want to send the same Email to. Sure saves on the keying and the plus time.

SUBJ: superq (R) FROM: BIGSQUEEZE 12/16/89 S#: 90938 Well, I have no complaints except one.... It's somewhat nice to save OLM's, but I thought OLM's were suppose to be private.... Think about it, you send an OLM about something, that person can save it and send it to someone else using SuperQ.... I know, I've had it done to me.. :Ü LOL!! And I've did it to someone else.. ;> To bad she can't get in here to read this... :> But other than that little minor problem, SuperQ is great!! Saving OLM's are also great... There have been many times in the past I'd be in MC or PC and get this Disturbing OLM from someone who is violating Terms of Service, but now beware.... Cause we can save it and send it to one of those wonderful QGUIDES... ;> You have been warned.. :P... And if you don't like the colors, they are easy to change... I changed mine before I ever used it... right after I d/l it and delinked it for using.. :> Just go to C64 mode/insert your SuperQ disk and type:
LOAD"COLORS",8 [RETURN]
RUN [RETURN]
and follow the onscreen instructions, and you can change your colors to fit your style.. :> It really is a great program, but it would be nice to use in other areas of QLink.... :> Why don't you go to "Talk to QLink" in CSC and ask them if they plan on coming out with anything for other areas of Qlink. I know I am.... :>
I'll see everyone in NIGHT SHIFT!! :>

SUBJ: superq (R) FROM: MalcolmG 12/16/89 S#: 415520 D/l'ed this 2 days ago...like it better than MC since I kept on getting hung up in there. No problems with this though. Didn't even see what the default colours were since I changed that when I went offline after the d/l.
Only problem I've had is trying to get a SEQ file to upload for mail. Finally after a few hours of working I discovered that I could only use 35 character wide lines (I tried to use 36 but kept on getting an odd carriage return on some lines) and 42 lines to a page. Seems to be working ok now but wish I'd known that before starting to upload mail :(
Is it worth the time...I think so...I could have used this about 2 months ago when I had to type in the same letter 9 times to send to 9 different people. So far on the mail I've sent out to various people I've managed to cut my online time to 1/3rd of what it was before using Super-Q and about 1/4 of what it was when I tried MC. And this is during peak times on weekends.
Now all they have to do is fix that annoying dump problem that crops up 50% of the time I try to leave MC or Super-Q to go elsewhere on the system. Malcolm :) -::-
SUBJ: superq FROM: MidniteOwl 12/17/89 S#: 418897 SEQ files are word-wrapped when read from disk, you needn't worry about line length and RETURNS they're automatic..
I'm not sure, but you may be able to send same msg to different users by just entering their names (one after another) after sending the last one out. ???
--- I'd like to see this MAILing system in all departments.. and SAVE-ing OLMs wherever you are... --- Also, to leave SUPER-Q/MC and go directly to another department without returning to PC first...

hi
club caribe was the name given to the habitat project, back in the 80's lucasfilms experiment with alternate reality worlds, you could create an avatar and go around talking and doing stuff, it was called habitat in the pilot test in 87, later on when it went into final version they called it club caribe, now a days it still works, it was sold to some japanese folks who charge you 10 bucks a month to use it, habitat (club caribe) was more like a chat but you could move around. i still remember (and still got) the run magazine that showed off the habitat pilot, i migth scan it sometime and post the pics here.

I found a small hardcopy in my old SuperQ disk sleeve, here's what's on it:
New Commodore Keys Shortcuts:
Commodore-A: Now you can answer On-Line Messages or E-Mail instantly by pressing this key after you have read the message.
Commodore-D: This key will bring up three new "Disk Commands" available to you while you are online. You can look at the DIRECTORY of a disk, check the DRIVE STATUS, or send a DISK COMMAND, such as:
Format a Disk - N0:DISKNAME,ID (Never format your Q-Link Disk)
Scratch a File - S0:FILENAME
Rename a File - R0:NEW NAME=OLD NAME
Commodore-E: Press this key to read the next piece of E-Mail in your mailbox.
Commodore-R: This option allows you to read in a SEQ file that you have on your disk into an On-Line Message or E-Mail.
Either create a SEQ file offline, using a word processor or you can use E-Mail or text that you have saved to disk from Q-Link. The SEQ file must te in PET ASCII.
If the file is longer than 37 characters across it will be word wrapped when you load it in. The maximum length for an E-Mail should be 45 lines and for an On-Line Message it is 15 lines.

That's neat, about the keyboard shortcuts and added functionality. So SuperQ is a total hack to the base client, then? Or am I mixing up its status as such with Music Connection? Were either or both written by Malakai (Robert Stoerelle, forgive me if I spell his name wrong) the same guy who wrote Omega-Q (II) and Stereo SID editor? It gets confusing, keeping track of all this stuff in my head. I need a bigger brain, or a huge piece of paper.

SuperQ is basically a glorified PC client, very similar to music connection.
It did, however, support certain extensions to support windowing for menus and dialogs that come from a more well known PC based service.
It is missing things like download support, and thus it is not suitable for running the complete service.
