I thought I might start a thread for this in case issues crop up. I've updated www.quantum-link.org to include the step -by-step instructions for WinVice 1.16. (If someone spots an error, please email me!) This is the easiest method so far for getting connected. Jeff

QLink D64 image won't accept keyboard input for the phone number.
Am I doing something wrong?

I've put together an SFX RAR file package that I have been passing out to many yesterday over the internet (both personally to folks and even over bit torrent). The package has everything for the Windows user that wants to get up and running on Qlink. It includes: Already patched Winvice v1.16, with the rs-232 settings and double screen enabled, and ntsc emu enabled. A unregistered Qlink disk, plus Games disks 1 & 2, Puzzler, SuperQ, and Club Caribe, and Rabbit Jack's Casino. It also has instructions on the few things the user needs to do to attach the disk image in winvice, load qlink, and get it online (these are listed in the rar text box). The package file is 3.57meg big. I was going to put it in here on the forum, but my account still has not been validated by the sys0p here. For those that want it for now and have a bit torrent client: www.demonoid.com/torrents/details/190293/I can also DCC send it if you catch me in #c64friends on newnet IRC. Also, I heard that Keith Henrickson was maybe working on something like this too. So if so, we should see what else this is missing, if any.

Ok, I currently have the package file up on a website for others to grab. www.geocities.com/darksaturn7/QlinkWinvice.zipPlease note, the file is actually and EXE and not and zip file, however geocities does not allow exe file extentions on it's site. So after you download this file, you will have to rename the zip extention to an EXE and then run it (it is a RAR SFX (SelF-eXtracting file)). Maybe someone else can get this file and put it up on a site that allows EXE files to be hosted on it to help. Or it can be added to the main page if desired.

Seems lots of folks already grabbed the file, and the site has exceeded its usage already (wow, just put it up a few hours ago).
I'm trying to find an alternate place to get it put, for easier grabbing...sorry if you are not able to right now. (the bit torrent is still being seeded so that is one way if you want to grab it tho).

Since VICE is GPL, I have posted the source. My changes are in rs232.c, rs232drv.c, rsuser.c, and c64cia2.c, or some subset thereof. Up on my website at www.phin.com/qlink

Best way is flipper@phin.com. My changes are mostly guesses made after observation, and may be incomplete. But feel free to ask away!
